  1. Way to go, Clayton. I believe the ERA is under 2.00 now????
  2. Some props to my Devils...Thamm MVP...Hales, Silva, Rocha all tourney. Awful proud guys !!!!
  3. My man Bender...throwing the big goose egg at 'em. Congrats to you (and your folks!!!!).
  4. My interpretation is: 1. The Big Timers no longer have team(s) in the area (this is unconfirmed). 2. What team will these 2 young men play for this summer? He probably needs a little more time in English class. LOL.
  5. Props to the Bruins, taking up where they left off last year. Gotta wonder whats up with the 'Dogs...they got taken to the woodshed here.
  6. Wayland Bapt undefeated at 11-0-1 with LCM grad Kyle Adams claiming 2 saves in 3 appearances.
  7. So Coach Bryant has his freshman nephew working with the varsity and no thinks this will go unnoticed? In BC of all places? Frankly, I just hope it is fair for the kid. If he's not the next big thing, then he will be spend the next 4 months hearing how "Well, you're uncle is the head coach...." And, if he's not the next big thing, then maybe he should shine at the JV level then ease into the varsity role. On the other hand, if he is the next big thing, then his play will take care of everything. I just hope its not putting the kid in a bad place. I'll leave the other debate (he's a good coach, he's a bad coach, he wins, a monkey could win, etc.) alone...just hope that Coach Bryant does right by his own kin....
  8. Landry is a helluva good coach...period. One day, a bigger school and/or better job will snap him up and then HF will realize what they lost. Put it this way...give him the talent BC has had the past 3 or 4 years and there would be a state trophy or two there...
  9. Coaching change -- Clement signed him then he resigns a few games into the '07 season. Fackler takes over but not re-hired after season ends. McNeeses hires a new guy but...a lot of uncertainty over there. Kinda hard to blame the kids for going somewhere else.
  10. A congrats to my 'devils: Way to go, Jake...1 swing, 1 HR. Good luck improving on that . LOL. Congrats to Mark to getting solid basehit in his 1st collegiate game. And BJ....get well !!!! We remain very proud of you guys.
  11. 1. Mike Rutledge runs Kyle Chapman in Houston. Very good guy and very good organization. KC is more of a "lets play games" rather than a teach/train group. 2. The Houston Heat is another very good organization run by Phil Cross (although I would suspect we have as many names on our speed dial as does he). They spread out over many different teams in various age groups. You want to be on their #1 team or your return on your investment lessens. Both of these organizations are well run and provide exposure to players wanting to get to the next level. I also think Clay Hill and the Columbia Angels do a good job over in the Houston area. And, no...the Banditos stop after age 14. They are run by Ray Deleon (he's a trip). They have a lot of success in the younger ages but have also been blessed with extraordinary talent out of the Woodlands.
  12. Well done...an outstanding job and an outstanding team. Congratulations to all.
  13. That's well said VOP and I agree. But on the other hand, there's really nothing wrong with self-promoting the kids and your school during nominations. Besides we pay the "powers to be" good money to sort it all out. ;D WHAT ????????? THEY'RE GETTING PAID NOW ????????
  14. We don't pick them...they pick us. Due to sheer numbers, we have to turn away more kids than we can take. My bottom line point is...you are talking about things you don't know anything about. Most of the time, people can ignore that...but when you start slamming something that is personal to me...then I won't let that go.
  15. Dugas' son now plays for us. Wonder why?
  16. westend1....I am very sure you do not know what you're talking about. And I doubt you can name 1 kid that went through our program that we didn't make better and that whose position we didn't improve. Go ahead....name 'em...then I'll list the players, parents, college coaches and MLB Scouts that prove my point...
  17. With all due respect, this poster simply does not know what he is talking about. I have read (and re-read) this post and cannot find much, if any, accuracy in it. It is disrespectful to the coaches and to each of the players who put in countless hours working and becoming good enough to get to the next level. As being intimately involved with this organization since it began, I do know what they do and have done for countless young men in this area. (1) Most of the kids come into the organization when they are 12-14 years of age. As time goes by, some players drift into the program at an older age. We are always looking for the opportunity to provide a motivated and talented kid an avenue to improve. (2) With no disrespect to Morgan Walker (who I've known for years), he has given very few of our players lessons...ever. Any kid who comes to us is not required to use us for lessons...that is their choice. They all wind up choosing us. (3) We don't give them their talent...God does. What we do is turn that talent into use-able skills on the baseball field. (4) There is no marketing strategy here...we don't make a dime on this. What we do get is the opportunity to stand in the room when 1 of our kids signs a National Letter of Intent to play somewhere he always wanted to...as the commercial says, "priceless". (5) Maybe these kids would've played somewhere without the Sun Devils...who knows? What I do know is that we provided these kids years of training, exposure, etc. I do know that, if it hadn't been for us, most of these kids would have never played at the level they are. We don't need any advertising. The college coaches call us. The scouts call us. They come to our facility. They call us with kids they want us to take on, to teach, to train. That is not marketing...that is not advertising.....its fact. I am proud of what we've done. I take offense to westend's comments to the contrary. There...I've vented.
  18. Wonderful job...and the torch has now been passed...
  19. I am surprised that Jasper, as defending state champ, is not preseason #1. They would be in my book. Granted, losing Reagan is a big loss but they still return a lot of talent and the 'Dogs just chewed up the state tourney last year. As far as BC, they do return some talent but lost a lot (e.g., their best 2 pitchers and their best player). I'd be happy with where they got slotted.
  20. The hitting master guy is Garry Ridge who is still giving lessons in the area. I think Garry works better with younger kids. JMO. I disagree about the Mr. Magoo comment and I feel certain that Johnny Dishon does as well. Johnny is (and always was) a D-1 athlete. The teaching and coaching he got made him a D-1 hitter...plain and simple. And I recognize that the number of college players a coach develops is not the only criteria...but its a pretty good start. I think you'll find that Thompson, Huggins, Bardin, Neale, etc. all have borderline players that they have made much better on their resume as well. The bottom line with those guys is that they make all their students better...at any level.
  21. Generally speaking, yes. Defense and pitching wins championships. That is true at HS, Little League and Major League levels.
  22. Wow...scrimmages? Preseason...I'll take Barbers Hill at the top. Best pitching in the area. Then Jasper. Best coach in the area. After that, LCM...the other best coach in the area. Great time of year...everyone oughta be jacked...
  23. Thompson, Huggins, Bardin and Neale: all with SE Texas Sun Devils. Although biased, these guys are the best. BTW...Fackler was an asst at McNeese, was interim head coach when their guy resigned inseason, but did not get asked to return. He went to the Big Timers for a short time, then left that organization as did Sam Moore. There are a lot of good teachers out there (and, unfortunately, some not so good ones). When it was my kid and his career, I chose Thompson and the SE Texas Sun Devils. It has been proven as a good choice. Their resume for college players are second to none...so why use anyone else?
  24. First, I agree about Dishon. He was the complete package...speed, power, defense, arm, etc. Just superb. The Hicks kid is a very good player but, at this age, Dishon was already 'special'...and special beyond HS ball. I think there are other kids that are as good, if not better, in this district. The Hart kid is very good and I agree that Statum could be a special player. By the time the smoke clear,s he might be the one everyone talks about in this district. To answer the thread: Hart, Statum, McDonald and Hicks (in no particular order). I also like the Felts kid at OF and am a huge fan of Robertson (BC).
