I will agree with that statement. I think if I didn't have my .300 wm I would probably be using the 243. It is extremely effective in East Texas for whitetail. I use the 300 due to all the huge hogs we have on my lease but you would be hard pressed to find a better whitetail round than the 243.

Well I have hunted with 6mm, 243, 270, 280, 30-06, 308, 7mm mag, and a 300 win mag. I now hunt exclusively with the 300 win mag. I know that it will take down a 200 lb whitetail deer, which is common where I hunt in Sabine County, or a 500 lb Russian boar with absolutely no problem. Every caliber I have hunted with is an excellent East Texas rifle and would not hesitate to use any of them today. I just prefer the 300 win mag. It is a Ruger M77 and is fairly heavy which helps to tame the recoil. I use Federal 180 gr. Nosler Partition ammo. Yes, it is a large caliber rifle, but, it is far from a "ridiculous" choice.

Actually, I think it is going to be somewhere near Crockett or Houston County. I think the land has already been aquired or at least in the works.

It doesn't matter if it was one point or fifty, Vidor lost. LUMBERTON BEAT THEM! at homecoming at that! Both sides played a great game and both sides made mistakes. The outcome of this game won't change no matter how many times they play. Anyway, good luck to Vidor and we hope your injured player gets back in the game soon.

I was trying to edit my message, but, it kicked me off first! I'm not shocked Lumberton is winning, I'm shocked its not by a larger margin!!!

There is no way to replicate the intensity of High School football in Texas on film. I think the original movie Friday Night Lights did a good job but it was based on a true story and events that actually occurred. I watched most of the TV show and thought it was fair at best, can't see it lasting though.
