1. Yes Newton did lose one of their starting running backs for this week.  But Everyone knows that Newton has produced athletes with tons of speed for a long time.  I will say that Buna has a powerful offense that is hard to stop however they have yet to line up against a hard hitting flying to the ball defense from Coach W T Johnston.  Remember this is the same scheme that had Kirbyville in contention for State in the past.  I say first half is close but Newton comes out by 21...
 2. Not only do the Eagles have W.T.'s defense they also have Shorter's wheels. This kid has serious ball carrier vision and is a force on the field. In two games he has already racked up 412 yards and 7 touchdowns. After having a rollercoaster season last year, this year's Eagles are ready to play football.
 3. This is only our second year to be up close and personal with Newton Football.  I have always looked at Coach Barbay as a celebrity of High School Football.  I mean anyone that pays any attention to high school athletics knows who Coach Barbay is. So when my wife became a faculty member of Newton ISD I was very excited for the opportunity to watch him coach with my own eyes.  I spent most of this season on the Newton Sideline and was able to catch him in action at "Ground Zero"!!! I was more and more amazed at the way he handled his business.  I can never express how lucky I feel to have met him and to have stood within feet of the Greatest Coach in action.   Whoever comes in as AD has some big shoes to fill. Going on what I know of WT Johnston, he would be an excellent choice. Being Barbay's "right-hand" man all those years would ensure the continuance of the Newton tradition. But at the same time the community will need to be open to new ideas. We are looking forward to the 2011 season.

 5.
If D-field kept their starters in the whole game like you guys have done the whole year the stats would blow your mind.......Thats why I said stats don't matter....thank you again coming from 17-2a!!!!!!!!
THis is going to be a great game.  BETWEEN KIDS!!!!!  Wife and I are Newton Faithful and just like most of the other Newton Fans we understand that these are kids playing a game for no other reason than the love of the game and cheer from the crowd.  Stats show me one thing - Dfield is a talented football team just as Newton is.  All of this, "who has better stats mumbo jumbo,"  is pointless.  We know Dfield pulls starters when then are wining and Newton Faithful know that Barbay (Greatest Coach Ever) punts and kicks fieldgoals on 1st down when they are winning.  All I care is about is that the kids have fun and stay healthy.  Of course we want Newton to win but I also want them to be proud of the game they played.  FYI- Newton Faithful need to talk Coach Barbay into running up score and padding stats next year so some fans of other teams will have more to talk about before the weeks matchup. ;)
