Games are on for today.

Another team with local girls is Hit Away Gold out of Houston playing this weekend at 2010 ASA Gold Regionals in Beaumont.The players are Rebekah Flores (Lumberton),Molly Randal (Beaumont),Caitlynn Dykes (Port Neches) and Kelsey Young (Beaumont).Hit Away Gold is 2 Wins and 0 Loses so far.It appears that a single elimination will take place on Sunday out of the teams remaining in the Winners Bracket.Good luck girls!

Hello everyone, My name is Kelsey Young. I am a junior first baseman and outfielder at West Brook High School and with the 2010 spring softball season coming around, I will be offering hitting instruction on mechanics and technique for any girls age 9 to 13 here in the Golden Triangle looking to see improvements in their offensive strength. My freshman year at West Brook I won the program’s offensive MVP award, 1st Team All-District Newcomer of the Year and 3rd Team All-Greater Houston Utility with 3 homeruns and a .333 batting average. Last year I followed well with 1 homerun and a .378 average, winning All-District Honorable Mention and am hoping to show well again this season. That said, lessons will begin as soon as possible. Times, however, will be limited since I must conform to my high school schedule including games every Tuesday and Friday as well as weekend tournaments nearly every weekend through March. Instruction will be given at West Brook’s field around 5:00 or 5:30 at a rate of $20 per hour on Mondays, Wednesdays or Thursdays and perhaps Sundays if possible. Congradulations to both groups of girls!My daughter started playing A Ball when she was 9 or 10 with the Thunder Organization.She is now almost 17 and playing Varsity on her high school team,as well as playing travel ball on a Houston team.Congradulations again girls!

I am going over tonight with my daughter Kelsey. She is attending the camp in the morning,I hope! I'v been doing alot of praying that it dose not get canceled. So many girls are planning on attending the camp! And have been looking forward to this showcase all year.

I had a really good time in Plano watching my daughter and her team. It was so nice to see so many college coaches there.And also alot of competitive teams too.The weather was GREAT!!!And not to mention that I won the bat that was being raffled off at Heritage Yard Field. ;D

My daughter and her team's have attended several Stars Over Texas Showcases over the years.I am kind of starting to feel that if the teams are to pay exposure fees, there should be several college rep's attending the showcase.I would like to see a list of college rep's COMMITED to being at the showcase.It would also let the girls know for a fact who's going to attend,so they can email the coaches about them being at the showcase.I still feel that the fee is a little high for so few of college rep's attending.

Saw your DD tnt_mom yesterday,pretty girl and pretty good pitcher too. TX Attack was just having an off game,we all have those. My DD team had a couple of them this weekend.Good luck in Plano,maybe we'll see ya'll there.

Hit Away Gold played Saturday afternoon with the games being pushed back an hour,finnished up this morning with 3 wins and 2 loss for the weekend.It was good to see the girls play in spite of the weather.On to Plano next weekend.

Well as for my daughter, she has made her decision to go out of the Golden Triangle area to play ball for a select gold team. After she finished playing for her summer team,she said it was time to move on and find a more dedicated team to play with. And also have a college recruiter dedicated to helping her go where she wants to go,not where he wants her to go. My daughter was told last fall that she really should consider attending a Jr. College, at that time that was the only coaches that were being spoken to. I told my daughter that she should have informed them that she could and can go to a D1 school on her Academics alone. We really do have alot of talented girls in our area that want to play ball. I have been around and seen these girls come and go. It's just a shame that due to the organizations or teams taking anyone that wants to learn the game and have fun,is making our girls that can not handle playing League ball or B-Ball due to the lack of competition and higher standard of playing ball. I as well as the rest of you parents that have daughters playing travel ball spend a great deal of money all year around. We do for our girls to help them achieve their goals.It would be great if we had more selections of teams to play for in our area like Houston does,but until people start to realize what is going on here more and more girls will be leaving our area to play select ball like my daughter.It is not easy to have a team with alot of talented ball players on it from our area, due to our girls going elsewhere to play. I really wish that people would see that this is happening.
