  2. Sorry for the late posting but here goes…. Lumberton hosted PNG at home Monday night in what turned out to be a 9 inning battle with PNG coming out on top 3-1. Erickson started on the mound for the Raiders and pitched 6 solid innings with 4 Ks and 6 hits, giving up one unearned run.  Bell came in for 2 innings of good relief in the 7th and 8th with 4 Ks and two hits, giving up no runs.  Brunson came in to close out the 9th and  PNG doubled down the 3rd base line, then moved the runner to third with one out.  Lumberton intentionally put the next two runners on to load the bases with 1 out.  PNG had two runners score on a double play attempt that got the runner at 2nd with the throw getting by 1st. Lumberton was unable to put any runs on the board in the 9th to end the game 3-1.  PNG got good pitching from Reyenga, Alexander (I think..someone correct me if not) and Sweetingham with good defense played behind them.  The Raiders only managed to put 5 hits on the board with the PNG defense taking away some well hit balls.    Erickson 1B / Bingham 1B / Pace 1B / Brunson 1B / R. Stanley 1B Lumberton will face LCM away on Thursday at 7:00.  The Raiders are 2-3 in district with a lot of baseball left so Raider fans, come out and support your Lumberton baseball…and feel free to post any additions… corrections to the updates!
  3. Lumberton scratched out their second district win tonight against the Ozen Panthers with the final score 3-1.  Bell pitched a great complete game 7 inning win, only allowing 3 hits with 2 strikeouts. The defense behind Bell was impressive, as it has been all year for Lumberton, but the offense from the Raiders was slim tonight, only managing to come up with 5 hits.    Erickson 2B,1B / W. Stanley 1B / Cowart 1B / R. Stanley 1B Lumberton is back at home to host the PNG Indians Monday night at 7:00 so Raider fans, come on out and support your Raiders.
  4. The Raiders picked up their first district win tonight against the Central Jaguars with the final score 19-0. Erickson pitched an impressive complete game 5 inning shutout for Lumberton giving up only 1 hit with 9 strikeouts. 5. The Raiders dropped their second district game Friday night to the Vidor Pirates in a tough 2-1 loss that turned into a pitcher’s duel. Bell pitched a great complete game effort for the Raiders, giving up only 3 hits and 2 runs.  Vidor’s Hester also pitched a great complete game, only allowing the Raiders 3 hits and 1 run.  W. Stanley 1B / Hughes 1B / Bell 1B The Raiders were threatening in the bottom of the 7th with a runner in scoring position but couldn’t push him across the plate. Lumberton played a non-district Saturday game at home against the H-J Hawks. Arsenault was pulled up from JV to start on the mound for the Raiders and pitched 4 good innings for Lumberton.  Hughes came in for relief and Brunson closed it out.  The Raiders and Hawks swapped leads in this one several times with the Raiders finishing on top 4-3 putting up 6 hits.  Brunson 1B,2B / W. Stanley 1B / Choate 1B / Soltis 1B / Hughes 1B The Raiders continue in district play on Tuesday at 7:00 taking on Central. Lumberton fans…come out and support your Raider baseball!

  7. The Lumberton Raiders opened up District play against the Livingston Lions at Livingston Wednesday. Erickson started on the mound for the Raiders.  Livingston jumped out to take the lead 1-0 as the Lumberton offense was slow to start against a well pitched game from Nettles.  The Raiders began to put the ball in play and took the lead back to move ahead 4-1.  Erickson continued to pitch well but the Raiders struggled defensively behind him in the 5th and Livingston went ahead 5-4 and held the lead for the win as the Raiders couldn’t push another runner across the plate. The Raiders only managed six hits against good pitching from Livingston.  Pace 1B / Hughes 1B/    Bingham 1B,1B / Cowart 1B / R. Stanley 1B  Lumberton has a talented group that will put this behind them and successfully move forward as they face the Vidor Pirates Friday night at home.  Raider fans…come out and support Lumberton baseball!

  13. Lumberton Fans feel free to post any correction, additions, or comments to the following thread. Thursday - Lumberton’s first game in the Orangefield tournament was against H-F.  For the most part the game was a pitching duel between Bell/Lum and Johnson/H-F.  The only offense generated by Lumberton was a bunt single by McDonald early in the game until the 6TH inning…Bell singled and was moved to second on a sac bunt by R. Stanley.  W. Stanley singled to put runners on the corners and  Erickson drove in both runners with a double followed by an RBI single by Bingham.  The final score was 3-0 Lumberton in a very well pitched game by Bell and Johnson.  Bell pitched the complete game shutout with 6 Ks, giving up only 3 hits. Lumberton gave up the second Thursday game to Kelly with a 6-3 loss.  Erickson started for the Raiders and Choate finished up the last inning.  Kelly hit the ball well while the Raiders could never get the bats going against a well pitched game by Townsend.  Lumberton only managed 6 hits in the loss – Bingham 2B,2B, Hughes 1B,1B, Erickson 1B, Brunson 1B.   Friday – The Raiders defeated Tyler All-Saints with a well pitched complete game win for Brunson.  Lumberton provided plenty of offense in this one with 14 runs to Tyler’s 8.  Pace 1B,2B,3B / W. 15. Here’s a quick rundown on how Lumberton’s tournament went this weekend.  It was cut short due to weather and Lumberton only played 3 games, the last one moved to Bridge City on Saturday. Lumberton won all 3 games against Chester, Coldspring, and Bridge City.  Our pitching was solid this weekend with a complete game win for Ty Choate against Chester 15-1.  Zach Brunson also pitched a complete game win over Coldspring 12-2.  The Raiders then beat a tough Bridge City Team 8-7 with good pitching from Corbin Bell, Tyler Erickson, and Wayne Stanley.  Our defense was solid all weekend and at the plate we were led by offense from Bingham / 7-9, 2 doubles, 2 HR, 9 RBIs, Erickson / 5-9, 1 HR,  W. Stanley / 6-12, 2 doubles, 1 HR 2 RBIs and Hughes with a 2 RBI double in the top of the 7th to put the Raiders at 8-5 against Bridge City.   Coach Reyenga also had our boys playing some great small ball at times with timely bunts and steals to put our guys in scoring position.  Great Job Raiders!
