ported of unported

i am looking to buy a new 12 gauge longe range pattern master choke. i leaning more towards the unported choke mostly cause i herd the ported chokes are seriously loud but wanted to know what the real diffrence are between them?

I dont care for the ported chokes. They are louder, and get dirty/sooted up on the outside due to the ports. I think I may have paid more for the ported chokes too, which would be another reason not to like them. I have a Browning skeet ported choke you can have if you want to try before you buy.

man thats nice of you but i dont wana just take your choke like that. i went ahead and bought a non ported choke for that reason. I read up on them and couldnt find a reason why the ported choke would be better.
