7th-inning scores lifts Lee by WB

BEAUMONT — Daniel Guzman walked and scored on a seventh-inning passed ball as Baytown Lee rallied for a 3-2 win over West Brook in District 21-5A baseball Tuesday night.

Lee, now 11-9 on the season and 6-2 in district, trailed 2-0 after West Brook went ahead in the top of the third inning, but tied the game on a sacrifice RBI by Reed Seeley and Michael Gomez’ RBI single in the fifth.

In the seventh, Guzman was moved to second by a Christian Valverde bunt, then took third and home on passed balls. West Brook put its leadoff hitter on base in the bottom of the inning, but he was erased on a strikeout-throw out double play with catcher David Guzman throwing the runner out stealing.

Then Seeley struck out the final batter of the game, his 13th of the night, as West Brook fell to 4-4 in district.

Seeley went all the way on the mound, allowing only one earned run and three hits while boosting his mound record to 5-0.

Lee was limited to three hits, with Seeley and David Guzman joining Gomez in the hit club.

The Ganders will host West Brook at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
