Yep. Game ended in a 1-1 tie after regulation and overtime. Vidor took the shootout 2 goals to 0  :'( :'( :'(. Grats to the Pirates and Coach Wedel. They played a great game. It was an exciting game to watch.

the lumberton vidor game was such a fun one to be in. i was vidor's keeper tonight. lumberton played a great game, i thought that the shootout would come down to the last lumberton player. all in all, it was fantastic.

Sounds like the Lumberton/Vidor game was eventfull.. how does this play out in district standings? Does either team have any other losses other than to eachother? It would go to the GF/GA tie breaker if not i believe..

Nederland girls 3, Little Cypress-Mauriceville 1

  NEDERLAND -- Nederland came to life midway into the first half with two quick goals and won a well-played 3-1 game over Little Cypress-Mauriceville Tuesday night on Prather Field.

  Clinching second place in 38-4A at 14-3-1 and 9-2, coach Julie Johnson's Lady Bulldogs received two goals and strong senior leadership from Lauren Washburn.

  Sophomore Brittany Tomlin also was instrumental in sparking the Nederland home-field triumph with one goal and one assist.

  Tomlin assisted Washburn midway in the second half for an insurance goal, as well as the lone second-half scoring play. That goal enabled NHS to pad its 2-1 halftime advantage.

  LC-M scored first in the 15th minute before Tomlin tied the game two minutes later on an assist from spunky and gifted freshman Felicia Sauceda. The Lady Dogs went ahead for good a few minutes later as Washburn got an assist from Layken Richard and put in her first of two goals.

  The Nederland girls complete their regular season on Tuesday at 5 p.m. They will play Beaumont Central on the Babe Zaharias Stadium grounds.



Beaumont West Brook girls 6, Port Arthur Memorial 0

  BEAUMONT -- District 21-5A leader West Brook only led 1-0 at half but rolled in the second half, claiming a 6-0 victory over Port Arthur Memorial on Tuesday night.

  The Lady Bruins placed coach Phil Mattingly's Lady Titans (9-6-2 and 2-5-1) in a backs-to-the-wall position in order for Memorial to secure a post-season berth. The Memorial girls will need to defeat Channelview and Baytown Lee in their remaining games in order to qualify for the 5A state playoffs.

  Port Arthur will have Senior Night on the PAISD auxiliary field this Friday night against Channelview at 7 p.m.



Port Neches-Groves boys 10, Bridge City 0

  PORT NECHES -- Port Neches-Groves moved within one victory of clinching the top seed in District 38-4A as it breezed past Bridge City, 10-0, Tuesday night on The Reservation.

  PN-G (20-1-3 and 12-1) will face Beaumont Central on Friday night in Beaumont's Zaharias Stadium at 7 p.m. If the Indians defeat the Jaguars in regulation play, without needing overtime, the Indians will have secured their first outright 38-4A district championship in Sandell's four years as Indians chief.

  Ironically, Sandell played high school football and soccer at Central. The Indians also had to win their regular-season football finale last November on the Zaharias Stadium field in order to secure that district championship.

  Senior Elver Uriostegui guided the Tribe with three goals and three assists. His two first-half goals helped to propel PN-G to a 4-0 halftime advantage.

  "He's just a complete player," Sandell said of Uriostegui. "He does a great job of setting people up."

  The Indians had seven other players who collected one goal apiece -- Eric Wyble, Angel Valencia, J.C. Figueroa, Jacob Lopez, Greg Flores, Micah Murdock and Francisco Cazares.



Nederland boys 5, Beaumont Central 1

  NEDERLAND -- Sophomore goalkeeper Andrew Mullins stepped up in a big way and Nederland moved onto the verge of a 38-4A boys co-championship by beating Central 5-1 Tuesday at Bulldog Stadium.

  The Bulldogs (18-2-1 and 12-1) can secure a 38-4A share of boys title with cross-town rival Port Neches-Groves if they can win Friday night at Little Cypress-Mauriceville.

  Coach Jason Butler's Dogs will visit Bear Stadium on Friday at 7 p.m.

  "I thought we really had good play from our defense tonight," Butler said.

  Mullins drew the start as Nederland's keeper on Tuesday. Brent Salenga, Jordan Wagner and Jake Kemp produced first-half goals as Nederland claimed a 3-0 halftime edge. Chaz Page and Hector Garcia added second-half goals.

  Coach Tony Cox's playoff-bound Beaumonters finally cracked the scoreboard with 1:25 to play after falling behind 5-0. The officials handed out three red cards to Central during the game.



Beaumont West Brook boys 4, Port Arthur Memorial 1

  West Brook consistently delivered two goals in each half and rolled past Port Arthur Memorial, 4-1, on Tuesday night at the PAISD auxiliary field.

  Port Arthur (4-7-1 and 1-7) scored in the 11th minute when Juan Zepeda received an assist from Oliver Villarreal. The Titans stayed within a goal, trailing only 2-1 at halftime.

  Coach Don Smith's Bruins opened the scoring by converting a free kick over the head of Titans keeper Victor Gonzales. The Bruins went ahead again with five minutes left in the half on a 1-on-1 breakaway opportunity. Another 1-on-1 breakaway made it 3-1 before a penalty kick put a lid on the scoring.

  Memorial will visit Channelview in another 21-5A game on Friday night.
