Guest GCMPats Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 High School Top 100 Teams Jeff SimpsonEmail The NCAA Division I college season opens this weekend, which means the start of the 2010 high school season can't be far behind. In preparation for the launch, PG Crosschecker has unveiled its pre-season list of the top 100 teams, beginning with two traditional Texas powers, Bellaire High and The Woodlands High. Over the course of the next week, we'll provide mini-profiles on each team, and we'll also provide rankings on the top 50 teams every two weeks once the season gets in full swing.RANK TEAM CITY STATE 2009 RECORD 1 Bellaire HS Bellaire Texas 34-4-1 2 The Woodlands HS The Woodlands Texas 19-10 3 Farragut HS Knoxville Tennessee 39-5 4 Christopher Columbus HS Miami Florida 24-9-1 5 Jesuit HS Tampa Florida 26-3 6 Bishop Gorman HS Las Vegas Nevada 40-4 7 Sumrall HS Sumrall Mississippi 36-0 8 The Pendleton School / IMG Bradenton Florida 30-1 9 Walsh Jesuit HS Cuyahoga Falls Ohio 29-4 10 Poway HS Poway California 28-7 11 Fairhope HS Fairhope Alabama 32-12-1 12 Crespi HS Encino California 21-11 13 Barbe HS Lake Charles Louisiana 31-6-3 14 Alonso HS Tampa Florida 30-3 15 Orange Lutheran HS Orange California 18-11 16 Wando HS Mt. Guest GCMPats Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 This does not hurt either:The Woodlands Highlander Baseball Team had four players sign letters of intent to play college baseball during the 2009 early signing period. The 2009 signees are: Nick Frey (TCU), Spencer Davis (Texas A&M), Daniel Homann (St. Edwards), and Jameson Taillon (Rice).Jameson Taillon RHP 6-6 220OF: IF: 1B: C: Pop Time: Fast Ball Velocity: 9660 yd: 40 yd: Track Conditions: PG Rating: 10 Jameson Taillon is a 2010 RHP with a 6'7'', 230 lb. frame from The Woodlands, TX who attends The Woodlands HS. Extra large athletic build, plus strong, very well coordinated actions. Well paced 3/4's cross body release, long extended arm action, repeats + well. Maintained 95 mph FB from stretch, outstanding angle to RHH's. Present plus true CB at times, hard and late with big break, commands CB plus well. Only 1 change this outing, has flashed plus change in past. No doubt #1 guy in class, special talent. Very good student, early draft prospect, verbal to Rice. Aflac All-American.
BrenhamFan Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 So we're above Moody and Calallen on here, but in the state rankings Moody's 1, Calallen's is 2 and we're 3?If you like high school baseball, I reccomend making a trip to "the baseball capital of Texas". Check out this years Brenham alumni tournament line up....http://classroom.brenhamisd.net/webs/athletics/upload/microsoft_word_-_brenham_alumni_tournament.pdf
BrenhamFan Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 Texas commit Erich Weiss went 5 for 6 Saturday when Brenham scrimmaged Belton, with 3 hr's and 2 singles. I would say that wasn't too bad of a game.
BrenhamFan Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 Correction*. Those were preseason rankings, were ranked #1.
