Some day when Lamar University basketball coach Steve Roccaforte wants to show off a textbook example of a team perfectly executing a shrewd game plan, he’ll reach for the tape of the Cardinals 75-64 thrashing of Texas-Arlington Wednesday night at the Montagne Center.

Roc’s reinvented Redbirds cooled off the Southland Conference’s hottest team with a combination of precision, milk-the-clock offense and hustling, in-you-face defense. To go with it, they threw in a big dose of a fabulous freshman named Anthony Miles and a shot-blocking monster named Jay Brown.
