Chris Stroud off to hot start at Frys.com Open

After the 1st round he's tied for 2nd, one stroke behind the leader.  There's still some players out on the course so he may drop down a few spots before the day is over.

Looking at his career totals from both the PGA and Nationwide Tours, he's earned over $1 million since turning pro in 2004.

Needs to make another say $400K over the next 3 weeks to earn his card for next season.  He played very well last year at this tournament finishing in the top 10 and earning $110K.

He lost some ground in the second round, falling to 32nd.  But he's only 7 shots off the lead so he can still finish strong and make some good money this weekend.

Chris Stroud is playing well today and he's currently tied for 8th, 3 shots off the lead.  There's a lot of golf to be played today so let's hope he can keep it up and have a top 10 finish.

Unfortunately Chris struggled on the back nine today.  He finished T-29th nine shots behind the winner.  Should cash a check around $27K.  Still needs about $350-$400K to earn his card for next season.  If he cannot get in the top 125 it is very important for him to at least get into the top 150!!!!!  That will get him into about 10 PGA Tour events and earn him his card for the Nationwide Tour next season.

Man, there is a lot of good players in the PGA because Stroud was a 4 time All-SLC POY and he is having difficulty keeping his tour card.  ??? ??? ???

He's off to a good start again this weekend. Tied for 8th after the first two rounds. 3 strokes off the lead. Needs a good weekend. If he could just catch fire on the weekend, could make it happen.

He's 1 under today thru 6, 3 off the lead thru 6.  Hopefully this week he can stay hot because in the last 2 tournaments he faltered some in the final rounds.
