Friday at Bulldog Stadium.

There will be about 8 to 10 dozen young men playing in one of the greatest environments that a high school athlete can play in.  Other schools may have big rivalries, but nothing, repeat nothing compares to the emotions and enthusiasm that this game and the week build up to it has.  You just don't understand this unless you have lived through it and have experienced it.  No other rival game in Southeast Texas is played in front of as many people or has been played for as many years as this one.  Friday Night Lights is all about the young men playing the best they can play, being motivated to play to their very best level by their coaches, and in this game the 6,000 plus fans on either side who are lucky enough to have a ticket.  When it is all said and done the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat will be apparent on the field Friday night at Bulldog Stadium.  We would all be wise to remember that winning builds confidence and losing builds character, a true champion needs both to be successful.  The last three years the Bulldogs have gained confidence while the Indians have been working on the character part.  In the end all the young men playing are champions, win or lose.  They are playing for their teammates, their coaches, their school, and their communities in perhaps the greatest night of football in their lifes.  Good luck to both sides.  May the game be one for the ages and end with no one being hurt.

About 10 minutes before the game most of the fans will be on their feet waiting to see their team. You can expect the cheering to start the moment one of the players steps out of the field house and comes into view of their home side. And loud, heavy on the loud................
