Baseball America has put out its top 50 HS players for the 2006 draft (although the article is entitled 'Tepid HS Draft'). Those from Texas are:

#2 - Kyle Drabek - PHP/SS - The Woodlands (undecided)

#7 - Jordan Walden - RHP - Mansfield (UT)

#22 - Aaron Miller - LHP/OF - Channelview (Baylor)

#25 - Nathan Karns - RHP - Arlington Martin (UT)

#28 - Brandon Belt - LHP - Lufkin Hudson (UT)

#31 - Dustin Dickerson - OF/1B - Waco Midway (Baylor)

#41 - Carmine Giardina - LHP - Durant HS, Plant City (UT)

#47 - Zach Britton - LHP - Weatherford (Texas A&M)

The aggies would have loved to have Clayton Kershaw, but I am sure being expected to be a top 10 draft pick will convince him to to go pro (as well it should). That is one of the hard things about recruiting baseball. You want to recruit good talent, but then you run the risk that you spent a lot of time going after someone who will go pro. Best of luck to him!

Isn't Carmine Giardina from Florida? Not surprised that Kershaw is at the top of this list.

I thought so but he was listed as being from Texas (????). Either that or we got a new high school (and city) in the state. Kershaw has had a great sr. season. Talent-wise, the article still likes Drabek but question his 'makeup'. Same with Kiker out of Alabama.
