Kountze also has some of the worst fans. Sutherland had a very sweet situation and was loaded with talent but still decided to leave due to fans and parents. I remember sitting in the "Drum" in Austin when Ashton Hall was a freshman. People in the section I was sitting wanted Sutherland fired for losing to a more talented Gainseville in the finals. It is amazing how some fans can become spoiled to success. A lot of teams would love to just make the playoffs' date=' but the Kountzes,Ozens, and now Silsbees must advance quite a bit for most fans to be happy. Sad how much pressure coaches are under to make a bunch of kids successful sometimes.[/quote']

Funny thing about Todd Sutherland: Had a GREAT job at EC. Took them to State finals in 95. Was absolutly loved to death by the fans. Swore he "was not going to leave"...

Within a week, he was gone to WOS. Didn't last a year....

Went to Kountze. Put up with a ton of crap from those people...

Arrive at H-J. After a pretty good start, things seem to be declining....

Just wonder if he misses the GREAT job he had a EC ???????? Oh well!

Maybe so, it remains to be seen. I know last year, they were not very good. 2A EC blew them off the court at the PN-G tourney. Sutherland looked bewildered and sick.

As far as football, it's PNG and Nederland. For basketball and being 3A, H-J usually packs the gym, and I don't know if they still have a gym with no A/C, but there was rumor that they did that on purpose to affect other teams that was use to A/C. I think for most sports the whole area turns out good crowds, but when you think of loyal fans it's PNG. I mean what other schools do you know teach kindergarden kids the school fight song before the pledge. It's insane, but several schools around the area are starting to get fans more involved and that's a good thing.

    • What the writer stated wrt crossover votes in the primary/runoff: "Covey and his supporters Paxton and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said Phelan only won because Democrats crossed over to vote in the Republican Primary for him. Paxton said Covey’s campaign identified “at least” 1,442 Democrats who voted early in Jefferson County in the primary runoff. Texas does not have party registration, but a voter’s primary voting history is public. The Covey campaign has not released its methodology behind its claim, but  This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up  by The Texan news website found that 9% of Republican voters in the March District 21 primary had voted in one of the previous four Democratic primaries. However, only 5% of that group had voted in all four previous Democratic primaries. What Phelan’s opponents did not mention is historically Democratic Jefferson County is undergoing a political transition towards the Republican party — the county judge switched his affiliation to the GOP in 2017 — so many residents have a mixed primary voting history. And Phelan’s allies in the House dismissed the idea that liberals swung the election. "I knocked on doors, hundreds and hundreds of doors, made calls for Dade,” Republican Rep. Jeff Leach, R-Plano, said on Mark Davis’ radio program Wednesday. “I did not speak to a single Democrat down here in HD21. Not a single one." "
