Best Basketball is SETX history

Simply from an overall standpoint.  We dont have one of those teams this year that could be the best in the history of SETX but we have NEVER and I repeat NEVER had 3 local districts represent the region with 2 teams out of each district.  The other beauty of it is that we could very easily see all teams reach the regional final and in each of those 3 games it is a complete toss up.  No one knows who will win.  This is indeed one of the greatest weekends in SETX basketball history!!!!!

Back between 98-2002 those were the best years in basketball in this area, you had lincoln,silsbee,Wos,Ozen,kountze.........out of all those teams you had atleat 12 players that played college ball.......you had the hancocks and Trey Peters, Immanule Mccleroy,Norious Magee, perkins, young, dabney,Chris miller, thaydeous holden, lewis Arline from silsbee.......and hell LCm was great with jason troop........seems like basketball these the athletes aren't the same as they use to be becasue those guys were phenomenal.......but it should pick back up the  next couple of years with talent......

As badly as I hate to --- I agree with you ltown. The Hancock brothers' reign at Kountze was king...The Kountze Lions 96-97 State Finalist's team was on fire with Josh Hancock, Zeb Carey, Bryan Eppes, Chris Miller, Chris Johnson, Fred Wright.........I remember Kountze vs. Ozen being the games to be at; full house at both courts....Those were definately good years...But you have to admit - this year has been pretty fantastic.

You are comparing 4 years to 1...............I am talking about 1 single season!!!! Just because you played in that period you think it was the best.  I played in 96-98 and I did not think it was the best............those were great athletes but very few of the teams advanced to the regional round like this in 1 year.  Heck .............holden and arline couldnt get past the first round.  This is without a doubt the best single year setx basketball history from an overall standpoint!!!!!  Playoffs are all that matters and these teams are playing when it matters.

I didnt say just becasue I played in that period its the best its just the truth....you had better players and better all around schools back then and better competition......Someone needs to win a state championship this year first to make it the best basketball in setx history just becasue you have the teams there doesnt me crap somebody needs to win a championship first...

I played for HJ....................there were not better ALL AROUND schools.  There may have been 2 or 3 really good teams but we have NEVER had 7 teams make it to regionals.  I am speaking from an overall standpoint!!!!

I gotta agree Spinks. Best year overall for the area. SETX is very dominant this year, even though none of the teams are any good. (sarcasm)

I think the teams are great and are representing the area very well. But there always has to be someone wanting to throw a damper on someone else's bubble. Ever seen the commercial about the one-upper??

    • We'll see. I don't trust us.
    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
