Texas Aggie Basketball Recruiting...

Recommended Posts

Aggie1212,

The Aggies have signed three of the top 5 recruits in the Texas (per hoopscoop), including number one Jordan that you mentioned.  Jordan is considered a top 10 player in the nation and will most likely be in Aggieland only a year until he goes to the NBA.

Those that have signed a LOI are:

Deandre Jordan HT: 7-0 WT: 240 Center

Nathan Walkup HT: 6-7        WT: 185 Small Forward

B.J. Holmes      HT: 5-10      WT: 160 Point Guard

Derrick Lewis    HT: 6-5 WT: 200 Shooting Guard

Also, The Ags recently signed a JUCO transfer for next year:

Viktor Dubovitskiy HT: 6-7    WT: 210 Small Forward

Viktor Dubovitskiy is a 6-7, 210-pound small forward who joins Chipola after spending his freshman season at Salt Lake City Community College.

“He’s a three- or four-type guy,” said Chipola head coach Greg Heiar. “He can be a face-up four or play the three out on the wing. He can really shoot the ball, and he continues to develop on the defensive end.”

Dubovitskiy, a native of Moscow, Russia, averaged 13.7 points and 4.4 rebounds while starting 26 of 30 games a year ago at Salt Lake City Community College (22-8). He shot 50 perfect from the floor (141 of 282) and 43 percent from behind the three-point arc (34 of 79). He also made 69.6 percent of his free-throw attempts.

It will be interesting to see what Gillispie does now that the talent is starting to roll in.  The lowest rated recruit for this class is a three star.  For a little perspective, the highest rated recruit A&M has playing now is a three star.

Hope that helps.  Gig'em!
