Lamar 18.5 point underdog.

No more skipping weekday home games against a team in the bottom 50 of D1 baseball.  This is a very nice overall schedule!

All starts February 13th.  Enjoy the last of football and pumpkin bouncing until then. 

Not sure what this means with radio broadcasts of Lamar football, basketball and baseball. Mann was the broadcaster for all these sports.

It's possible that KLVI will no longer broadcast Lamar athletics. Not sure what they will do now without Mann.

Highlights: baseball opens Friday February 16 at South Alabama tournament; Lamar picked second on preseason conference poll; first home game is March 1.

really curious how much longer the Texas teams stick around the WAC… I’m curious if this is the first domino of it.

LU will host McNesse for the final game of the season next Saturday. A win and the Birds finish no worse than 3rd in conference.  Could end up tied with UIW for 2nd if UIW loses.  

Lamar win would give them a 6-5 record with 1 loss to an FBS program, 1 loss to the SLC champions, and the other 3 to ranked FCS opponents. Going into this past weekend, those 3 teams were ranked #4, #6, and #10. Most, I assume, would consider this a good start for the team, the new coach, and his staff.  Some might say much better than just good. 

Playing for a 3 way tie  

A Lamar win would set up a final weekend with LU having a shot at being an automatic qualifier for the FCS playoffs. 

Other notes...Lamar is 3-2 against FCS opponents with the two losses coming against teams ranked in the FCS top 25. Idaho is presently #3 (they play Montana on ESPN 2 at 9:30 FCS fans) and S. Dakota is #17.  

The other 2 games are a win over an NAIA school that is playing an FCS heavy schedule and a loss against FBS Louisiana Monroe. 

Not sure if this info means much, but I find it all interesting.  Especially when one thinks about a new coach getting a schedule that starts with an FBS opponent and 2 ranked teams that play in 2 of the most respected FCS conferences. That's likely not something anyone would want to have when rebuilding a program. 

A win here and Lamar will be undefeated in conference with a week off before hosting UIW and then A&M Commerce, before traveling to Nicholls, and finishing the regular season at home against McNeese. 

Pull off a win today and things get interesting for Lamar.  Hope the locals take notice if a win today happens.

Lady Cards top first place Southeastern for their seventh straight win! Lamar (17-10, 11-5) now sits one game out of first.

Saturday Abilene Christian and Grand Canyon play again for the right to advance to the championship game.

Meanwhile New Mexico state - one of the teams with the poorest record coming in (10-20 in conference and 23-32 overall) = has already reached the championship game.

Weekend series next at Abilene Christian

Starting pitcher Adam Wheaton pitched 7 1/3 innings giving up the two runs (only one earned) as again the defense committed two errors.

Jack Dallas pitched the final 1 1/3 to earn another save.
