Despicable DeSantis

So, in 2012 freshman congressman Rick DeSantis voted no on a bill to supplemental aide for New Jersey after hurricane Sandy, implying that people without flood insurance are fiscally irresponsible and it was not right for the federal government to bail out the unfortunate. Now, it happens in his state  and he runs hat in hand to President Biden and Congress asking for that which he opposed 10 years ago. He couldn’t say enough good about the nonpartisan help he’s received from Biden on Tucker Carlson the other night.  Despicable, I say.  That $12,000,000 taxpayer money he spent sending asylum seekers from Texas to Massachusetts would sure buy a bunch of bottles of water for his constituents.  Looks like he could starve his constituents and not lose any votes, so long as he didn’t starve them to death. Vote Democrat!

You're getting your facts wrong.  Abbott has spent $12M sending several thousand illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities.  DeSantis spent $615,000 to send the immigrants to Martha's Vineyard. That said, it would've been more expensive for both states to pay to take care of them, so it's kind of funny  to me how the cost of transporting them is the libs' big talking point.

This is really no different than what hospitals around here do with patients who come in pregnant with no insurance. If they have time they pay an ambulance to ship them to Galveston to the charity hospital. Cheaper for the hospital to pay an ambulance bill than to deliver the baby.

Without doing to much research typically Congress both Democrat and Republican love to add all kinds Pork Projects into an Aid Bill. Then when Congressmen or Women don’t vote for it the other side says look he doesn’t care about the victims. Lol. One of the oldest tricks in the book when it comes to Congress but please be outraged UT. 😂

He wasn’t complaining about pork. He objected to the direct aid.

Thank you for setting me straight. The legislature set aside 12,000,000. Only 615,000 has been sent. That was only an aside. He still accepted aid that he opposed on principle for another state.

What tiny fraction (if any) of the almost $75 Billion that’s been sent to the Ukraine in the last few months will go to help the hundreds of thousands of American taxpayers in Florida many of whom who lost everything over the last few days?

Again. Why did DeSantis accept the aid when he wouldn't provide relief for  New Jersey?

Again….the Aid Bill had to much in it that had nothing to do with helping storm victims. Why is that so hard to understand?

Are you outraged that Biden has erased the Border an allowing millions of illegal immigrants pour across the border costing taxpayers billions and billions of dollars and resources that would be used for legal tax paying Americans?

Fact check

DeSantis, a newly sworn-in congressman, was one of 67 House Republicans who

This is the hidden content, please
 the bill.
This is the hidden content, please
he sympathized with victims and that those with flood insurance should have their claims paid. But he said that “allowing the program to increase its debt by another $9.7 billion with no plan to offset the spending with cuts elsewhere is not fiscally responsible.”

What about those that didn't have insurance?

Obviously 67 other Republicans that voted against it felt there was too much nonsensical spending in the bill that had nothing to do with helping the people affected by Sandy also.😂

Question: If a deer runs out in front of your car while your driving an you run off the road an total your car that you had no insurance on are the taxpayers responsible for getting you a new car?

From the article:

President Obama’s $60.4 billion request for Hurricane Sandy relief has morphed into a huge Christmas stocking of goodies for federal agencies and even the state of Alaska, The Post has learned.

The pork-barrel feast includes more than $8 million to buy cars and equipment for the Homeland Security and Justice departments. It also includes a whopping $150 million for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to dole out to fisheries in Alaska and $2 million for the Smithsonian Institution to repair museum roofs in DC.

An eye-popping $13 billion would go to “mitigation” projects to prepare for future storms.

Other big-ticket items in the bill include $207 million for the VA Manhattan Medical Center; $41 million to fix up eight military bases along the storm’s path, including Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; $4 million for repairs at Kennedy Space Center in Florida; $3.3 million for the Plum Island Animal Disease Center and $1.1 million to repair national cemeteries.

Budget watchdogs have dubbed the 94-page emergency-spending bill “Sandy Scam.”

To answer that question:  Her warped liberal brain would absolutely expect it.

The leftists / media are terrified DeSantis will be the Republican candidate for 2024, so they are trying to smear him as much as possible, while continuing to ignore things like Biden talking to dead people, or Kamala saying we have an "important strategic alliance" with North Korea. Zero mention on CNN, etc.

DeSantis just torched the stupid media. "Where were you?" LOL

Cool. Apparently it was on CNN at some point. Perhaps it finally appeared after the story got so large they could not hide it anymore. CNN repetitively called for Trump to have cognitive testing, but AS FAR AS I KNOW they won't call for Biden to test.

CNN has a long history of lying for Democrats while smearing Republicans and conservatives. That's why CNN loses lawsuits after they slander innocent people. Understandably, their ratings are in the toilet.

It was also on TV. I saw it myself.

I'm not saying it didn't happen - I Googled the quote you had and I didn't see it, but I am also at work and didn't spend too much time looking.

    • Really good hire! As I stated previously on this thread, Mike T has been an essential part of WB’s success the last few years & is a student of the game & I have a ton of respect for how he goes about things as a coach. Big on teaching kids how to do things the right way to prepare them for not only basketball but the game of life. He’ll be fine there, my only question is what kind of talent does WB have returning?  Best thing about this situation for Mike T is WB will be 5A for at least the next 2 years, so he should win a lot of games & have some deep playoff runs.
    • So which coaches kid gets the QB job? Trotter or Barrier
    • A Winnie land owner (and others) sued the State of Texas after they built IH-10 a few feet higher in order to help contain storm flooding. Sure enough a hurricane hit and flooded the land. The storm improvements worked!! Unfortunately the state sacrificed several people’s properties in using the interstate highway as a dam.  Richard DeVillier tried to sue Texas under our laws and Constitution and the US Constitution under the Fifth Amendment “taking clause” (eminent domain). After a favorable ruling in the federal district court on the right to sue Texas directly, the Fifth Circuit Court in New Orleans overturned that ruling and said that the DeVlier had no authority to sue Texas directly.  On Tuesday a unanimous US Supreme Court ruled that DeVillier and others had the right to sue Texas directly under Texas law and under the Fifth Amendment of the US Constitution. The case is now sent back down to the lower court. DeVillier and others have not won their lawsuits as the case has not been decided on its merits at a trial. He still has to go to prove his case. What they did win was a unanimous Supreme Court agreeing that he has the right to bring Texas to trial for taking his property with just compensation.
