I'm 42 and I enjoy high school football but I have to much other stuff going on to get that fired up about wins and loses. Its amateur sports. I support Silsbee to the core but man I will never make a video about how displeased I am about the program.

Me neither.  At least not a video.

I didn’t know Todd Dodge was the head coach at PNG!

Then he goes on bashing T because at 5’7, 150 lb at DE he couldn’t get a scholarship.

He has passion for the silver and blue, but damn, the more he ranted, the goofier he sounded.

I found out via other WOS fans that like 99.9 of the stuff he was saying was factual though…

The DE part got me too. He couldnt play corner back so go down there where you can get around a slow fat linemen. In that 50 defense edge

It wasn't his idea. That is exactly the type of coaches we had. To utilize the players natural abilities and Excell in the process.

I heard the one about the coaches making big money off him and others. Big money? Idk bout that.

But did anyone hear that not too long after we graduated in 99, college recruiting blew up at WOS. That's when you started seeing Franks, Haynes, Deon, Earl, and more getting major college offers. Surprise surprise... that also when Toby came to Coach and was leading the track team to state championships.

I know. Its been a strategy at wos for years. They got speedy guys on the edge. I honestly think it works most of the time. Making big money as in his school pay check?  because imo WOS does not pay their coaches well. My wos friends wanted Toby. But i think there could have been several other coaches that would have done a great job.

Bingo!

Hey @BMTSoulja1 when Toby got to Central didn't yall have a spark in numbers of players getting major offers?

he's done the same at Shoemaker.

Toby has sent something like 30-40 kids to school on FULL RIDES. He is very involved with the track program which anybody will tell you, a good track team correlates to a good football team. He is well connected and respected by college coaches.

Was he allstate at DE 1st team on 2 poles? That's what he said. I was in college and didn't follow anyone really from 1998-2002.

Pay goes based on school enrollment. 6A coaches are paid anywhere from $80k-$200k. Some are also the AD. Schools in 4A might be able to max out at $90k in D1. I know teachers who are making $100k a year because they have been teaching 20-25 years in large school districts.

He also had a day like a combine. Where many college coaches/scouts would come evaluate talent at Central. But not just Central. Kids from all over the area got a chance too. That always stood out to me. That he cared enough for another schools player to get a chance. Even if it meant one of his player didn't get a scholarship. That says a lot about him.

I guess as a outsider because im from orange. Silsbee didnt hire Hick at silsbee as Head Coach they went with Smith instead. Hmm i wonder why? I understand why Toby didnt get the iob the first time. He had to compete with a great coach but now hearing all these things about CT why didn't WOS stand up then? But i heard that hick had the job in the bag before he got hired and that WOS didnt go outside to fine a great coach. Because the list of coaches that applied were people ive never heard of. You cant tell me no one wanted one of the most talented teams in the state.
