Manvel mavericks vs crosby cougars

For the Crosby fans looking for the positives. We can look back at the ‘18 game. We were huge underdogs and took out a very talented team:

Josh Coltrin - QB signed with Tulane

Garrison Johnson - RB signed with Syracuse. Donovan Eaglin - RB signed with Michigan State. Ladarius Owens - RB signed with Texas Southern(fastest RB I’ve seen Crosby on the field with besides Earnest Patterson from Brenham)

Jalen Paxton - WR signed with Tulsa. Jalen Walthall - WR with multiple FBS offers but did not sign, maybe grades or decided to run track?

Layden Robinson - OT signed with A&M. Kori Roberson - DE signed with Oklahoma.

I can’t remember who the dbs were but I’m sure a couple of them went D1 also. Crosby beat them without having a single FBS signee that year.

As a Carthage supporter, I came to look at what people thought about the Manvel vs. Crosby game and also wish the Cougars and their fans good luck in this one as well as the rest of the season. I have mostly found Carthage and Crosby arguing.

I thought for as sloppy a game as both teams played, both were impressive and should have a great season ahead of them.  I think Carthage should be excited for beating a team like Crosby while replacing several starters at key positions and then also missing darn near your entire starting o-line and RB.  I think Crosby should be excited and optimistic for how they played also replacing many starters at many key positions.

They better win this week. It aint pretty next week.

IDK, unless y'all have 13 D1 kids I think we'll be ok. Just going off last week's film Manvel looks better than PAM at every position group on the field. QB is just making his first starts but if he continues to play like that he'll have multiple FBS offers just like most of the other Manvel qbs. Besides that, Manvel literally has power 5 recruits at every position group on the field. I only see one on PAM's team? Bowie may end up being one but doesn't have those caliber offers yet, the Manvel kids already do. Y'all also don't have a coach like Surratt that elevates the sum of your parts.

All that talk means nothing next week. Good luck versus Manvel. I really hope yall beat em.

Carthage might be 4AD2 in enrollment, but everyone knows their football numbers are WAY higher than the average 4AD2. Athletes flock to places like Carthage. 2 classification difference doesn't hold water in this case.

I'll give you that and we don't get as many move ins as people think. Although we have big football numbers, we could never realistically compete in 5a D1 for a title. Numbers don't mean they're all talented. We definitely lack depth to play any of the 5A D1 schools and up.

I agree with everything you said. Judging from the way Nederland and PNG were able to beat their 4A-D2 opponents you would probably have to say Crosby is projected to finish no better than third in the district right now.

I made this argument with a friend of mine on Saturday night. I think Carthage has the most disciplined defense in the state. I think Crosby will avg 30 a game for the rest of the season and this is why. Like I said, i feel Carthage has the most disciplined defense in the state, but EVERYTIME time Carthage, missed an assignment, it was a big play by Crosby or a TD. I think the offense is good enough to score on any team from anywhere one the field. The defense seems suspect me. Hey I could be wrong.

@Cougtalk See what I'm saying lol. Carthage fans have a hard time enjoying a solid win. They have to keep bringing up why they didnt beat you worse or all the adversity they had to overcome lmao. Talk about an attention seeking fanbase. This is a Crosby vs Manvel thread but we have to inject the 4AD2 team that beat Crosby last week. Why? Fwiw I'm picking Manvel comfortably. Crosby will need to run the ball more. #14 is going to get worn out pretty fast if he is the only playmaker. He needs help.

Neither played a full game we would have won 17-0 if they stopped it at half

Gotta love when people cut out parts of your quote. You remind me of news media.

I gave props to Crosby and lauded both teams. Get over yourself

Carthage didn't miss assignments on either of our tds. One we drove down the field with mostly Jones running the ball, he broke a couple of tackles and scored. The other was a screen where Kirkwood broke a tackle and just accelerated through the defense. If Crosby only averages 30ppg this year we might go 6-4 and really make y'alls win look worthless. Like I said, good win. I'm done with the Carthage talk, I'm sure y'all have a game this week too. We trying to get prepared for a hell of a lot tougher opponent than Carthage was this week.

Worried about Carthage, lol. Ok.

It's only a topic to people that won't be on the sideline Friday night. There's not a single coach or player that cares about what happened last week. Not saying they overlooked Carthage but before the season even started the kids were zeroed in on the Manvel game. I swear to God my son didn't even know who Carthage was. All he knew was that they were a 4A team. He asked me, "Why are we even playing them then?", and "Are they good?" He watched his big brother's squad beat Manvel and knows who they are and how big a deal it was to beat them though. I personally think we were ready to play but we came out and George Ranch-ed it like we did in the opener last year.

Lol ok. Cougar14.2 Junior knows now.

If they don't care about losing then that says a lot about the character and pride of the team.

Pretty simple to see your agenda. Hopefully others saw through that too.

Pretty simple to see that your life must suck outside of this site if all you have time to do is troll a program that the program you follow will probably continue to outpace in championships.  So Chill.  👌

After Surratt and Manvel I think PAM will be a relief. Y'all need to take out BH first. Paetow was legit, and other than MAYBE qb you can't point to a position group on PAM's team that's better than what BH just saw against KP either. Especially at the line of scrimmage and the secondary even with Gilbeau. I think y'all should still win but probably only by a td.

Where did I say they don't care about losing guy? He's seen Crosby lose a lot of games by a heck of a lot more than three to a heck of lot better teams than y'all. He still doesn't think Carthage is anything special. Hell, watched us lose by more points to Nederland in district play last year with a state finals team. Y'all aren't anything we don't see multiple times a year. I think it says a lot about your team that you have to dwell on a 3 point win. If y'all are that good go tell Surratt to schedule Duncanville and see if you can keep it closer than 70-0.

And what happened last week?  Crosby lost.  Hence, not a single coach or player cares about losing last week.
