As a Head Coach of a sport you should know the eligibility status of your players.  Grades and Waiver status fall into that category.
if you have kids that have waivers pending or not started then they certainly don’t play varsity games.
As I said, this is inexcusable.   Shouldn’t have happened.

Just says public reprimand doesn’t say recruiting violation. Nice try tho.

Thanks for the updated info and perspective. I guess this explains Coach Egan’s Nov 2023 UIL public reprimand. In most cases many of the transfers are not legitimate, but the unwritten rule seems to be “look the other way”. 🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️

I get that. But whose to say this could have been a clerical error? He may have been told they were eligible. I do not know how Crosby handles their business in regards to eligibility. The coach may or may not have actually known.
But, the bottom line is it does fall back on the coach and the admins.

What’s done in the dark will come to light. Hate it for those seniors that worked hard all year to get to this point of disappointment. What a way to end your senior season, them kids going to remember this for a long time.
Been living in Crosby all my life and never seen a situation like this.
i agree that all credit for success should go to the coaches. Likewise, when there is failure all the blame should go to the coaches too.

Getting word there is a possibility that this game may not happen. Waiting to hear about an ineligible player being played by Crosby this season. Could change things in regards to seeding.
    Stay tuned

Man I can't remember a time when Crosby lost to Nederland in basketball, no disrespect to Nederland tho! My my, how times have changed. Maybe it's time to shake up the Coaching in Crosby. 6A in a couple years won't be fun!

Split in 22  (Ned lost 58-56 in OT) Crosby sweep in 21, split in 20, single game in 19 and Ned L, single game in 18 Ned Won, didn’t play in 17 or 16… all the games have been very competitive and close…

They split if I remember correctly. Won by 3 at home (I remember the chatter after the game) and lost in OT at Crosby but I don't remember by how much.

The two year run with Coach P was from remnants of Coach Rio attracting talent to Crosby HS. The outside talent mixed with the local talent created a good tenure while Rio was here. Coach P didn't spend enough time here to establish the program which will attract (not recruit) talent.
I would go on to say Coach Rio was probably the best coach in Crosby history. Proof in the pudding, that why he is playing for a State title this week.

Nah, just #2’s fault. That’s two fumbles on him now. Coach’s fault for not utilizing #14 more though.

Point well taken on his arrival time to Crosby. However there are some glaring things the coaching staff have missed. Regardless of time in the seat, how can an entire staff miss #14 abilities and line him up in the WR slot and use him primarily as a blocker. #14 been averaging over 150 yards the past few games. All one had to do is look at his Hudl highlights and know he should be a featured RB. Knowing the history of a school and people is very very important. Hate to harp on #14, but his dad 14.2 was a dynamic RB and his grandfather was the best RB in Crosby history (by some accounts). Genetics don’t always transfer, but it’s definitely something to know. Just like #11 Windfont, his Dad Chris was a beast at DE. Same as #2, his uncle was good at RB. I can go on and on, but hey what do I know….
Also, this is the QB many loyal cougar fans was calling to replace Myles and put him at WR position. How is that working out this year? I don’t ever remember Myles throwing 3 INT in a single game.
Not sure of many jobs that’s gonna pay you 100k and give you xx amount of years to figure it out. I would expect more from a coach with that win percentage. Not to truly compare, but Coach Preito came in late too.
According to his record he is a great coach, but might not been the best hire for Crosby. Time will tell if this was the best decision.

Crosby needs to go ahead and make the commitment and sign Coach Willis to a very long term deal

As an outsider (with a lot of gray hair), it’s critical for a Superintendent to understand the pivotal role extracurricular activities play in the overall education process.
In a single high school town, the extracurricular activities are what the town rallies around. They can bring a sense of pride, which—in turn—brings more community/parental involvement, which breeds more success in academics as well as total well-rounded education. Successful extracurricular teams have historically provided more approved bond moneys than any other school activity. Just academics aren’t even close. Academics are great. But, voters don’t jump up & down & cheer for Johnny & Janet’s 4.5 gpa. It just doesn’t garner the same type of pride—even though it’s fantastic.
Those who only focus on academics are just as bad as those who only focus on extracurriculars for not helping their charges reach their full potential.
Pride in community is built quickly on successful Friday nights. Don’t underestimate  the power of this to get necessary bond money approved for other needed improvements—both academic assistance and otherwise.
    I wish Crosby luck.

I'm certainly agreeing with him on that! As a matter of fact you see it all across the state; there are numerous programs that were once very proud and successful that are now struggling to win because of this....just to name a few in East Texas that are suffering dearly: Alto, Tenaha, Jacksonville, Henderson, Tatum...these are a few of the schools (just in east Texas). Make no mistake its happening on a very large scale across the entire state

Not sure of the hiring and firing for the particular sports, I am sure she has her reasons and we may never understand nor agree. She get paid the big bucks to make those tough decisions. Let's be real, it's a demographic shift that is affecting the athletic program (yeah I said it). Somewhere near 2009 CISD was approx 60%+ Caucasian and now it's 37%, NUMBERS DON'T LIE. A quick Google search will confirm my number quote. Unfortunately, the population (now majority) that's moving to Crosby don't particularly play Football nor basketball. I included basketball into the conversation because last year the varsity lost both district games to Sterling. It will take anyone a while to find when the last time Crosby Basketball lost to Sterling. Point is, it's not just Football that is having a rough time. The problem is not just the Supt, if she is even part of the problem, It's bigger than her, when your best basketball player is a Soph and the HC's son, there is a problem. He is also one of the top WR.
Not many HS not collegiate sports can thrive when the leading players are underclassmen.
2021 was an anomaly and should not be confused with the standards of the football team from year to year. That 2021 class had a lot of move-in kids, whole family moved here and not just an athletic transfer. Therefore, their results sort of skewed the football program expectations. The same for basketball, PJ Haggerty was a transfer and since his college departure the Bball program has been anemic, to say the least. This is not about transfers, but just to point the obvious in regard to move-in/transfer kids. The same for BH girls Bball, when C Collier transferred from Crosby to BH their girls program thrived. Haven't heard much about the girl program since (IJS).

It's funny that you should post his highlights. Seems like the coaches finally found a way to utilize #14. Sadly, it's 5 games too late and the season is practically over for Crosby. Just like you have medical malpractice, this is coaching malpractice (LOL).

Watched last night. #14 for Crosby is a dude! Kid was impressive. I was hoping PAM would look the part but I went away from the game thinking this season will most likely finish like last. 3rd round loss vs LV. Overall that is a successful season and one to be proud of.

In all fairness to 14.2, I would be frustrated as a parent too. Here is what I see, and this is only surface level. His son went from a “ featured” RB to a blocker slotted in the WR spot. He probably never lined up in the WR in his life. He is playing out of position, wonder how many other players are in the same boat. His son is a senior and had no opportunity to seek other options. He did what he could as a parent and met with the new coach and I would assume they came to an agreement to be a RB, but…… His son went from a player line up in the backfield to a slot WR. I can bet everyone on this thread would feel some kinda way too.

Yep. Kid went from being all-district RB last year to playing in the slot. Those 23 carry’s for 146 yards were hard yards due to an o-line that does not block or doesn’t know their assignments. The coach has no clue. Levi was pounding for six yards per carry up the middle, then tries to run a jet sweep on 4th and inches. That’s just one instance of the insane play calling.
