This is for someone in the know: Did Vidor try to contact certain coaches? Like, say, the Liberty Hill OC? You know, give him the opportunity to say yes or no. And were there others that might be future Elite coaches they contacted? I know they won't get an establish Elite coach. But, Buchanan and Surratt were not Elite when they showed up at their respected schools. I'm a firm believer in reaching for the sky and then working down. I don't think much will come from starting at the bottom!
i was curious myself if vidor tried to get in contact with Liberty Hill's OC about the position. i think an outside hire can do a lot more with an open mind with the program but still running the same type of offense with his own touch on how to get the program to another level.

Trahan the Ex girls softball coach turned OC ? That dude has no idea how to run that offense, he simply emulated what Crueder was doing when he was OC ! Crueders the one that forever changed the offense from methodical to unmethodical. At least DuBois could actually fix what Crueder and Trahan broke !
i wholeheartedly agree with this.

anyone know a timeline on this hire? any news on interviews? i know an article mentioned possibly waiting for the march board meeting to make an announcement...seems like a long time.
from what ive read, they want a new hire within two months, but mathews wants to acclimate the new coach to the players to make sure the players get settled in and mathews last day is june 1st.

Literally any offense. They don’t even run the slot T that well. And the belief that vidor kids “can’t” do a modern offense (a belief that Coach Matthews has shamelessly expressed in news interviews) is baseless. There is nothing different between the PNG / Nederland kids and the Vidor kids except that the Vidor kids’ coaches think the Vidor kids can’t learn how to throw a ball.
vidor would probably better suited as running a "multiple offense" imo.

Curious: Was this a voluntary or a forced departure?
pretty sure it was a voluntary, i don't see the administration pushing him out.

What different offense or defense would be a better fit for them than what they have been in?
maybe change the offense since they ran the slot t for over a decade but vidor has had great success with 3-4 defense under fletcher.

Again, he is very qualified.
if your talking about who im thinking, he should definitely be qualified to be an AD.

wish nothing but the best for coach mathews in his future endeavors. he definitely left vidor athletics better than when he took reigns of it.
im curious who they plan to bring in, a coach from outside or someone within the school district?

They are even worse at round ball. That weak pre-district hurts once you get to the playoffs
the only weak team vidor played in pre district was probably trinity christian.

Why do we always end up playing CH or Lindale, can't ever catch Palestine. They seem to be the only team to beat from that district. Apparently, it's already decided up in East Texas if we already know the first round matchup. Curious how it all shook out on their side since Lindale goes in as the 3 seed.
and CH was the 4 seed last year.weird.
