  1. not much success over his last Reagan*. *A Reagan is a new unit of time measurement I've invented. I don't think I need to tell you how long a Reagan is.

  2. I heard the same thing this weekend but why did we have to get to this point before she decided to give in to a basic ask that any decent coach is going to have for his kids? You can tell she's feeling the pressure because she made sure the practice fields and game field information got out to the "correct" people.

  3. Willis didn't have as much success at Tyler because of administrative issues...he was well loved by his players and much of the community there...its hard for anyone to be successful in Tyler ISD right now

  4. The nature of baseball has changed.... (whether it is right or wrong) chirping/taunting is now apart of the game. Turn on any college baseball game or high level high school game and you are going to see lots of things we didn't see 5-10 years ago. Congrats to Ofield on a great season and good luck to CH.

  6. Not at all. Why would we? We played great all year and ran into a good team. Just think CH could learn to be humble and be decent ppl and not act like they did. Pretty embarrassing to their community.

    PN-G's Spring Game

Won 11. Played in 13. The two we have lost were by a single point each. In '74 we went for a 2 point conversion and the win, didn't get it. In '17 we missed two xpts.

  12. You're not wrong, though... You can pretty much tell if a person has an American flag in their yard, they're probably a Republican. And if a "Republican" is a die hard Trump fan, they MIGHT have a high school education and are middle income at best. Probably one of their first times to register and vote, also. I'm not wealthy, but I'm doing okay... Most of my friends are conservatives, of course, but they run the gamut from blue collar day workers to multi-millionaire business owners. The wealthy ones held their nose and voted for Trump, and quite often they couldn't even get their wives to vote Trump because "he's just a pig." These are dudes whose fortune would be negatively affected by Biden winning, but their wives didn't care... they crossed over and voted Biden or just abstained. (That means that they didn't vote at all, for those of you sounding the words out). I've got a good friend the other day telling me about how bad of shape we're in because of Biden, and how much better things are/would be if Trump were the President. He literally said how things are "worse today than they were back in the day when that one guy, I can't remember his name, you know, the one between Carter and Reagan was the President. I can't remember his name." I just agreed so he didn't hurt himself. But there are a LOT of guys like him...

  13. Yeah, the few that are still left are meeting with him individually this week and finding out their fates. IDK if it's to let the kids have camp time or because he wanted more time to build his staff but Summer workouts aren't even starting until June 12th this year instead of the Monday after school like normal. Seems like you would want the kids out there ASAP considering you'll only have 3.5 days on the job before he kids are out for the Summer. I think the four day week got the teacher shortage taken care of. The pay scale is also getting closer to where it should be for a town with Crosby's tax base.

  16. I'm not sure I've heard a Crosby fan talking about winning the district in over a decade? Not that we don't want to but it's kind of the lowest form of accomplishment(to us) outside of finishing 4th in the district. Two of the last three times Crosby went to the semifinals we didn't even win the district outright. PNG is in a different situation than Crosby, it's a more ready made situation to win there. Crosby hired a guy based on what he did a decade ago at a school that's nothing like ours. You look at the last 8 years of his record and probably not too many people are excited about getting a guy that's 54-42. Winning does solve everything but why not hire a guy that's winning at a school similar to yours already?

  17. Not since Kevin Flannigan left has a Crosby football coach played politics. Riordan wouldn't let some kids play defense but that wasn't politics, that was his coaching philosophy. The GCM receiver is going to start and might be asked to play both ways, he's literally been force fed the ball during 7 on 7 this offseason (games his dad and I watched together). The reason they left is more basketball related, they didn't feel Haggerty was enough of a team player and basketball was important to them so they went to GCM. The older brother isn't the level of athlete at the younger brother

  18. Spoken like someone who knows nothing about Crosby. The best that happened to Crosby was hiring Jeff Riordan. It was such a night and day difference between him and Flannigan. Young ~35 year old guy that elevated our participation rates made the game/practice fun for the kids instead of the old school way Flannigan went about it that turned kids off and had nothing but core kids coming out. Prieto was 36 when we hired him and he continue that trend. Most important thing is where they came from and what they won with though. Both offensive minded coaches which went hand in hand with your personnel that the Crosby community produces. Both coached in places where the talent was in the 65%-75% percentile and beat pretty much everyone they could when the talent gap wasn't too large. The hiring party's logic is that the community was incensed about losing the coach and the safe hire was someone that could mitigate questions on her intent getting rid of Coach P.

  19. Only difference is Crosby doesn't have the Hutchins Twins(Thomas Hutchins 5A player of the year), Myles Cheatum, an NFL caliber left tackle and average about 6'3" and 285lbs across the line of scrimmage. Other than that we're just like those Cedar Park teams. Aledo didn't blast Crosby because y'all were just unbelievable at the skill positions, it was because we couldn't compete at the line of scrimmage. We still have those issues.

  20. On paper, 31-4 Mag West is the favorite. Mag West just blew out Lake Belton 10-0 and 11-0 in the last round. 24-10 BH sure did their job with convincing 8-2 and 12-3 wins over Freindswood.

  29. I have always said just send 2, but I'm old school that way. But, if you are going to send 4 teams, make sure every district has a minimum 7 teams in it. I don't like 4 teams going out of 4, 5 and even 6 team districts. Also, every #1 seed (district champ) should host a 1st round playoff game. Another incentive to win district.

Not a fan of this. Taking away the necessity of hitting the front end of a 1and1 potentially changes strategy. Just my opinion.

  35. Supt. went completely away from what was working. She made a desperation hire to keep the roof from caving in on her. Only way she knew to save face is to bring in a re-tread that people wouldn't try to remove her for. I agree though. I don't think Willis is a great fit and I think the game has passed him by to an extent. Crosby is kind of similar to TL in the sense that you have to keep kids "engaged" and he wasn't a great fit there. We had the opportunity to hire some legit needle-movers but the supt. doesn't know enough about athletics to be able to evaluate coaches and make an informed decision. Hiring a 60 year old guy kids couldn't care less about playing for is going to drop the participation rate down lower than it already is. The stuff Coach P asked for that caused the supt. to ego trip is the same stuff a new coach is going to ask for soon as he gets here. Considering her son was a star receiver here it's baffling that she doesn't have the first clue about what's needed to keep your athletic programs competitive. Since we spent $20k on a coaching search committee instead of giving Coach P that money to fix the practice fields I'm pretty sure the applicant list will never be released. We had a guy from "the" West Texas school that wanted the job badly, we had maybe the hottest young coach on the SW side of town that wanted it, we had the guy at the closest school in proximity to Crosby High interested. Instead we go with grandpa who's probably just there to take the $140k for a few years to help his retirement and not make any waves. Smh, what a **** show

Those, of course, are the ones that were caught. Common sense says that only a percentage were caught meaning that statistically speaking, many more probably made it through. I know you’re jaded and not willing to concede that we have a real problem at our southern border, but you’re definitely a smart guy. There’s a song by Pink Floyd called “Sheep”. “Hopelessly passing your time in the grassland away Only dimly aware of a certain unease in the air You better watch out There may be dogs about I've looked over Jordan, and I have seen Things are not what they seem What do you get for pretending the danger's not real Meek and obedient you follow the leader Down well trodden corridors into the valley of steel What a surprise The look of terminal shock in your eyes Now things are really what they seem No, this is no bad dream” @UT alum, Use your smarts or one day you’re going to wake up and it’ll be too late. Break away from the sheep.

The down side of the portal is already showing up for Lamar this off-season. Reigning Southland Freshman of the Year Nate Calmese, who averaged 17.6 points per game, entered his name into the portal. Fellow freshman Yuto Yamanouchi-Williams, a 6-foot-10 center, said Monday that he will also enter the portal. Jason Thirdkill and Trey Harris said Tuesday that they'll hit the portal, too.
