Is Adams hurt again?  What about Catt?  This has been a brutal season for the cards, but injuries and covid haven't helped, especially when combined with moving to the WAC.

Adams should be back soon from injury.  He’s been working out.  Catt should as well, who has been out with covid/Illness.  Sam beat NM St by 26 last night and SFA beat Grand Canyon by 24 I think.  Lamar played both teams to the wire without those 2 starters, as well as another who would likely be starting if not injured.

I just hope the local kids stick around for next season and come back healthy.  This has the makings of a decent squad, but it’s been an abysmal season

Yes, brutal schedule combined with a team that literally hasn’t been healthy all season…I feel for the kids and coaches.

And I really hope so too.  There are a few of the local kids that some poaching overtures will be made to.  I can tell you one will be back.

With missing players with injuries and COVID not only does it  effect your numbers, you can’t get a rotation flow. Messes up the chemistry. Not knowing who is available to play has to be a nightmare.  Kids having to accept different roles…..

Lamar has literally had 3 walk ons playing significant minutes.  One of them, Senigaur, would probably have anyway but when you have had games with only 5 scholarship players available, often with only one or two starters, it’s just a tough road to hoe.

I will tell you what’s not better in the WAC.  The darn zebras.  One in particular was responsible for about 10 points the wrong way for Lamar today.  Good news is next week we should get Catt back, as well as Ball hopefully (his first action of season).  Adams first game back was today and he looked great.

The charge call on Adams at end of game that got Coach Brooks ejected was iffy.

It was.  The other kid grabbed Jordyn’s whole left arm (as he drove past him) to the point that it turned him sideways with no call (in double bonus), then the kid who drew the foul actually stepped on Jordyn’s foot as he was going up.  One of the Lamar photogs sent me the picture.   That went from a 3 point play to give Lamar a tie or the lead to 3 out of 4 FTs on the other end.  Same ref waves off a Harrison basket by calling travel on a sweet euro step. (He told Brooks after watching the replay “sorry I missed that one.”  And the foul on Kason on the loose ball where the acu kid came across him to knock it out of bounds (which put them on the line and gave them 2 points at the line), was equally terrible.  3 huge sequences that all took away points and/or gave them points.  All made by the same guy.  Takes a lot to get Brooks to lose it.  That ref really earned it.

Good news is Adams was out a month and his first game back he was instantly the best player in the gym.  Kid is obviously supremely skilled but what gets me is how rarely he ever makes a bad decision.   He almost always makes the correct basketball play.  Basketball iq is through the roof.  When you combine that with a kid that has all the physical gifts he has…man you really have something.

I told many many folks when he was a freshman at Silsbee that he had the most upside of all the guys on varsity at that time. He was the one I thought would excel at the next level.

Just throw away the whole Lamar athletics department in the dumpster. It's embarrassing. Marco Born and all his hires have been disasters.

The move to the WAC is looking worse by the day. Get new people in and work on getting back into the Sun Belt with USL and La Tech.

Add a med school or a law school. And expand Cardinal Stadium. Be an asset to the area for once Lamar.

I'd really like to hear your suggestions on how Lamar should go about getting a medical or law school. Also, why would they want to expand a stadium that already has plenty of empty seats on gameday?

One could argue that failures in sports don't really have much to do with their being an asset to the area.  hundreds of thousands of local kids have gotten an affordable education from a college respectable enough for them to get hired into jobs.  that's Lamar's biggest asset to the area for me.
