Livingston at Vidor

Keeping them focused is the big thing.  Livingston seems to have gotten their mojo back based on the big win last night.  They beat Splendora a lot worse than Vidor did.  Hope the Pirates don’t overlook them and get distracted by the HC hoopla and reading about how good they are in the papers.  They’re in a position only one Vidor team in the schools history has been in.  One stumble will ruin their chance at an undefeated, and perhaps a historic season.

If Vidor has another turnover free game, and can eliminate the false starts, their offense will be hard to stop. They ran that slot t down our throats last night. And chewed up a ton of clock doing it. Gotta go with vidor here.

For sure… control the clock and hang on to the ball are the big factors for this team

This irritates me somewhat.  There are four undefeated teams in the State in 4A-D1 football.  Here they are with DC rankings.

#1 Austin LBJ

#2 Stephenville

#7 Kaufman

** Vidor - the Rodney Dangerfield of Texas football.

Keep on winning Pirates and stuff their rankings where the sun don’t shine.

another quote from the comedic legend last night after we beat LCM, "there goes the neighborhood!" 🤣 we really are the Rodney Dangerfield of Texas Football.

We’ll said bulldawg64, and spot on.  Polls are nothing but a conversation piece.  Still, a little irritating.  Bottom line, the most important thing for Vidor right now is concentrating on beating Livingston.  Everything else is irrelevant.

On the other side of the line, if Livingston can avoid penalties they can be very dangerous. Their penalties in the Lumberton game helped our boys out alot. Not saying the Train isn't good, just Livingston shot their foot a whole lot.

You can chalk that up to the same thing that happens around here, tradition. If winning is basically a tradition and you reload time after time, then it's hard for us flash in the pan teams to show up high in the polls.

Makes sense.

Livingston has dealt with a bunch of injuries and have had a nasty penalty bug.

Maybe they're over it.

That, and the Pirates don't like throwing the ball gives me hope that this will be a Lions win.

The way things look, we could have three 3-2 teams and three 2-3 teams at the end of district. There's not much separating these teams.

Is your QB back?  He’s a good one.

What’s the situation on the Livingston QB anybody know? That will make a big difference in this game if he’s out. He killed us last year with the rollout pass, they couldn’t block our defensive line but the QB would catch the snap and immediately sprint to the sideline before throwing it downfield. Idk why we didn’t send someone upfield on the edges to contain him.

Where do they have Vidor, somewhere in the 20s?

Campbell doesn’t go past 10 on any classification except 6A, who doesn’t have two divisions.  And there were no losses in the 4A-D1 top ten so probably no chance of recognition.  Pirates have to just keep winning and recognition be durned.  These boys have already exceeded most past Pirate teams.  They’ve had a tad of luck to do so but as you and I know, they’ve got mucho heart (moxie).  Very few past teams would come back from two TD deficits.  Got to be proud of them.  C’mon boys, let’s beat Livingston.

Oh ok cause somebody said LCM was ranked #12 in the state last week. Where do they get those rankings at?

    • That’s a president? How embarrassing.
    • Really good hire! As I stated previously on this thread, Mike T has been an essential part of WB’s success the last few years & is a student of the game & I have a ton of respect for how he goes about things as a coach. Big on teaching kids how to do things the right way to prepare them for not only basketball but the game of life. He’ll be fine there, my only question is what kind of talent does WB have returning?  Best thing about this situation for Mike T is WB will be 5A for at least the next 2 years, so he should win a lot of games & have some deep playoff runs.
    • So which coaches kid gets the QB job? Trotter or Barrier
    • A Winnie land owner (and others) sued the State of Texas after they built IH-10 a few feet higher in order to help contain storm flooding. Sure enough a hurricane hit and flooded the land. The storm improvements worked!! Unfortunately the state sacrificed several people’s properties in using the interstate highway as a dam.  Richard DeVillier tried to sue Texas under our laws and Constitution and the US Constitution under the Fifth Amendment “taking clause” (eminent domain). After a favorable ruling in the federal district court on the right to sue Texas directly, the Fifth Circuit Court in New Orleans overturned that ruling and said that the DeVlier had no authority to sue Texas directly.  On Tuesday a unanimous US Supreme Court ruled that DeVillier and others had the right to sue Texas directly under Texas law and under the Fifth Amendment of the US Constitution. The case is now sent back down to the lower court. DeVillier and others have not won their lawsuits as the case has not been decided on its merits at a trial. He still has to go to prove his case. What they did win was a unanimous Supreme Court agreeing that he has the right to bring Texas to trial for taking his property with just compensation.
