HJ vs Silsbee Hardin County Showdown!

Tomorrow, Wednesday February 24, @6:30pm at Westbrook HS, the HJ Lady Hawks and the Silsbee Lady Tigers will face in the Regional Quarterfinals. 

Could we possibly see another Hardin County matchup in the regional finals (5th round)?

All in all, I am proud of these three teams on their success so far! Good luck to all the 409 teams!

I’ve seen both teams. Tigers do have some girls that can play, but if you don’t have REALLY good ball handlers, can consistently beat the press, and a REALLY good 5’10’ on the ball defender, Silsbee won’t come within 30 to this team...

I agree. Great season for both teams, and I've seen them both as well. HJ is on another level compared to most if not all other 4A teams. That's no knock on the Lady Tigers, they can play. I'll take HJ by 40+

Biggest difference in this years HJ squad is their defense and their depth.  They are averaging 25+ assists a game as a team, so they really share the ball also.  If Silsbee's guards can handle the relentless pressure defense then it could be interesting.

HJ just beat a better team than Silsbee has played so far in the playoffs by 62.  Silsbee has beaten a 6-10 team by 1 and a 17-12 team by 6 in the playoffs, and don’t seem to be playing their best basketball right now.  HJ posted a 71-point first round win against bridge city, who silsbee beat by 21 and 29 this season.  I always get excited to see an HJ/Silsbee matchup in any sport, but it’s hard not to expect a 40-50 point win for the hawks coming.  I would actually love for it to be a tougher game for HJ, who haven’t been “tested” since they beat state ranked lumberton by 48 late December, and a solid 5A barbers hill by 27 in early January.
