This is not the storied Wheatley Team, the community, alumni and fan base does not support this basketball program. You no longer hear that famous chant of Wheatley, Wheatley, Wheatley during their games. The full court press is non-existence doing their games.

Ooo Ahh, Third Ward High All Day

Like I've hinted at before Wheatley is now a soccer school.

You were going to drive to see Yates and LCM play?

Pull the schedule for that night and I will pick something more competitive for you to watch in the Houston area.

At the beginning of the season I will say, usually to myself, I am going to this game and that.  When the date comes up for some reason or another I will miss that game.  The LCM vs Yates games caught my eye for none baseball reasons. I've never actually been on to Little Cypresss Mauriceville much less stepped foot on their high school campus. I drove over that big bridge & I saw a sign that said this is Bridge City, and another that said this is LCM.  That's about as close as I've been.  I feel like I know them just the same.  They were always district rivals even back when I was in school. The name LCM brings back memories of a simpler time, if that makes sense.

Now I've been living in Houston, officially, for decades.  I say officially cause I was always visiting Houston even when I lived in Silsbee.  H town then was a 2nd home.

We go to church off Scott St out in South Acres, which is further South from 3rd ward, almost in Pearland.  On the way home we usually drive straight North on Scott.  My wife loves Frenchy's chicken, so we stop there from time to time. Yates campus is right near there.  I've only been in that school once.  That  was before they rebuilt it.  So I had that game picked out more for sentimental reasons.

    • Wrong again. This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up   The day that Trump took office, our nation debt stood at 19.9 Trillion dollars (End of Q4, 2016).  After his tax cuts (without corresponding cuts in spending), the national debt stood at 23.2 Trillion dollars at the end of Q1 of 2020 that was the Start of COVID, FYI... Or a total increase in debt of almost 17% during Trump's first three years (and one quarter) in office.  At the end of his reign (with COVID spending for which Trump himself signed off on) was at 27.7 Trillion Dollars.  That's a 39% increase in the National Debt while Trump was in office.  For further reference, Biden inherited a 27.7 Trillion dollar debt to start.  At the end of Q4 2023, the debt stands at 34 Trillion.  That's an increase of 19% over the first three years. I know that math and facts hurt your feelings, but Trump was horrible for the country before he allowed "them Dirty Democrats to shut down the economy."  Anybody that says "Trump was good for the country" doesn't know the first thing about micro/macro economics or the effects of deficit spending.  Trump hurt us like no other president, period.  Anybody that says "Trump was good for the economy" is actually stating for the rest of us with some sense "I don't know what I'm talking about."
    • But of course you wouldn’t understand the saying. You’re so clever. Your education precedes you.
    • Hmmmm..... Didn't they just win a football state championship?
    • The fact that you try to bolster your assertion that Trump was a bad president by using "facts" that are not attributable to him is disinformation at it's worse. It is "lying by omission", which is just another way to say big ol' fat lie. Unemployment was going down to record lows before Covid hit. You and I and almost everyone on Earth knows this, but somehow you try to spin this stat as a knock on Trump. Same for the stock market. LYING BY OMISSION. A tactic almost as old as prostitution. The debt and spending exploding due to Trump is just an old fashioned bald face lie. You seem to follow the mantra "if you tell a lie enough times it becomes fact." You are starting to resemble Biden now. Do you have any other whoppers to share?
    • Intentionally keeping top secret documents haphazardly around the house comes to mind.  A lot of what came out of his mouth, torpedoing the political careers of republicans who didn’t fall in line?  I don’t know that he all of a sudden became a beacon of moral light and goodness just because he got into office. Again, we’re not talking about policy, but what kind of person he is.  If anything he seemed to get worse once he was in power as far as I could see.
