Longest current local playoff streaks

Recommended Posts

This could be pretty misleading since the playoff format is so watered down these days. I think Kountze ended what had been a Phenomenal streak last year. Evadale is in real danger this year. Just a few I would think that have really long current streaks that will continue are East Chambers, Silsbee, Hardin Jefferson, Big Sandy. These schools judge their successful seasons a little different, just playoff appearances don’t draw much attention.

I have no clue where to even start researching this, but who has the longest streak of post-season playoff runs?  I ask because I know of a school that is at risk of not making post-season play and I can’t remember the last time they didn’t play in the bi-district round.

Was thinking about this the other day.

One would have to go to the UIL website and look at each archived playoff bracket for each classification over the last 20 years or so to get that answer.

Evadale Rebel Boys

2011 Evadale lost to Eula in controversial state semi final game;                2012 made playoffs;           2013 didn't make playoffs

2014 made playoffs for last year in 1A then for 2015 jumped to 2A and have made playoffs each year since.  scratching for 2020

Evadale 6 year run started 2014 season.

Controversial is an understatement.....Coach L’s phone background was that kid shooting the ball with the red lit up on the scoreboard in the background

Used the word controversial loosely because this public site. However, I have other choice words for what it was. Evadale got screwed is more of the direction I could have went... LOL

slow day at the office so i only looked at HJ and Silsbee.   HJ is sitting on 20 consecutive years in the playoff starting with 99-00 season.  Silsbee is on a 15 year run starting with the 04-05 season.  (no data listed for the 01-02 season. HJ was in the prior 2 season and since.)

it is a slow day, but not that slow to review every classification.

East Chambers is running on a 17 year streak dating back to 02-03.  There is no data for 01-02 listed for playoff brackets for any qualification.

Jumped to 2A?? The state just renamed the classifications.  2A IS the old 1A.

    • That’s a president? How embarrassing.
    • Really good hire! As I stated previously on this thread, Mike T has been an essential part of WB’s success the last few years & is a student of the game & I have a ton of respect for how he goes about things as a coach. Big on teaching kids how to do things the right way to prepare them for not only basketball but the game of life. He’ll be fine there, my only question is what kind of talent does WB have returning?  Best thing about this situation for Mike T is WB will be 5A for at least the next 2 years, so he should win a lot of games & have some deep playoff runs.
    • So which coaches kid gets the QB job? Trotter or Barrier
    • A Winnie land owner (and others) sued the State of Texas after they built IH-10 a few feet higher in order to help contain storm flooding. Sure enough a hurricane hit and flooded the land. The storm improvements worked!! Unfortunately the state sacrificed several people’s properties in using the interstate highway as a dam.  Richard DeVillier tried to sue Texas under our laws and Constitution and the US Constitution under the Fifth Amendment “taking clause” (eminent domain). After a favorable ruling in the federal district court on the right to sue Texas directly, the Fifth Circuit Court in New Orleans overturned that ruling and said that the DeVlier had no authority to sue Texas directly.  On Tuesday a unanimous US Supreme Court ruled that DeVillier and others had the right to sue Texas directly under Texas law and under the Fifth Amendment of the US Constitution. The case is now sent back down to the lower court. DeVillier and others have not won their lawsuits as the case has not been decided on its merits at a trial. He still has to go to prove his case. What they did win was a unanimous Supreme Court agreeing that he has the right to bring Texas to trial for taking his property with just compensation.
