Doakes appeal for eligibility has been denied by  UIL. The decision was announced this morning at The  UIL Waiver Review Board Meeting.

He should have transferred to a Private or an academy months ago. The writing on the wall was pretty clear.

Senior year down the tubes. Shame

Yates should be the best team in 4A, with or without Doakes.   They have the best roster anyway.

That's an understatement.

Still think the young man should have left months ago. Sources tell me that he was being led by Yates peeps that he would get eligible. I believe the Yates admins knew that it was pretty impossible for him to get eligible. Now it costs him his senior year.

Hmmm...are those Yates peeps school district employees??

Ok, first HISD is not doing any favors for Yates. The rumor is the school district originally denied Doakes transfer. Yates has to fight with The Athletic Director for HISD to get anything done. Doakes is going through some issues that is more important then basketball (I can’t say what the issue is). Doakes should enroll at a prep or private school next year and reclassify for the 2020-2021 year.

Second, district 22 & 23 are similar regarding the level of competition. You  have your elite teams in Yates & Silsbee and everyone else. HJ would finish 2nd in both districts.  Yates would dominate district 22, and Silsbee like wise in district 23.
