Say what you want, but this is old time high school football. Two good teams playing on a grass field with a crown, small stadium and rabid fans. These kind of games are the seeds of Texas High School

Here’s two great programs going at it.   There’ll be more pride and tradition on that field as you’ll find anywhere.   Anyone seeing this game will see the best of High School Football.

I agree with this. Passing game looks so much better. Newton wins in a brawl.

You're right I know WO-S made the first two xps. Don't pay any attention to this guy, if brains were spit he couldn't lick a stamp. Don't matter this kicker will make more than he misses.

WOS seams better than last year, Newton maybe not quite as good as last year (even though still a state champ contender) so I'll say WOS edges this one. Turnovers and/or penalties could be the determining factor. One thing is for sure, barring injuries, this game will make both teams better.

WOS is better than last year and had me concerned. I have not seen them play,( so all this is second hand information) WOS has a very strong run defense but from the sounds of it are struggling with the pass defense. From what I saw at the Silsbee game Newton has a Pretty good pass offense, so that gives me a little more confidence that this could go to the Eagles. But turn overs and miscues could lead to disaster for either team. This is two great programs. you couldn't get me to take a bet on this game unless you gave me 100 points either way. The sad fact is someone has to lose. I love both these programs. End in a tie?

I root for newton in almost every game they play, but not this one. I agree, throw out the scoreboard and just let em play. From the looks of who we have played, both teams could use the elite competition. Only gonna be better afterwards. And that's what counts. It's a marathon not a sprint.

And you are basing this on playing Kirbyville and Silsbee?

      Really good hire! As I stated previously on this thread, Mike T has been an essential part of WB’s success the last few years & is a student of the game & I have a ton of respect for how he goes about things as a coach. Big on teaching kids how to do things the right way to prepare them for not only basketball but the game of life. He’ll be fine there, my only question is what kind of talent does WB have returning?  Best thing about this situation for Mike T is WB will be 5A for at least the next 2 years, so he should win a lot of games & have some deep playoff runs.

      A Winnie land owner (and others) sued the State of Texas after they built IH-10 a few feet higher in order to help contain storm flooding. Sure enough a hurricane hit and flooded the land. The storm improvements worked!! Unfortunately the state sacrificed several people’s properties in using the interstate highway as a dam.  Richard DeVillier tried to sue Texas under our laws and Constitution and the US Constitution under the Fifth Amendment “taking clause” (eminent domain). After a favorable ruling in the federal district court on the right to sue Texas directly, the Fifth Circuit Court in New Orleans overturned that ruling and said that the DeVlier had no authority to sue Texas directly.  On Tuesday a unanimous US Supreme Court ruled that DeVillier and others had the right to sue Texas directly under Texas law and under the Fifth Amendment of the US Constitution. The case is now sent back down to the lower court. DeVillier and others have not won their lawsuits as the case has not been decided on its merits at a trial. He still has to go to prove his case. What they did win was a unanimous Supreme Court agreeing that he has the right to bring Texas to trial for taking his property with just compensation.
