2019 FOOTBALL TEAM PREVIEWS

LA PORTE BULLDOGS

2018 Record: 2-8 Overall, 2-5 District

6th Place in District 21-6A

The 2018 football season left the La Porte Bulldogs in a position that they don't find themselves in pretty frequently...out of the 6A playoffs.  With longtime coach Jeff La Reau retiring, new Head Coach Anthony Renfro will have a young squad (4 starters return on offense....3 come back on defense) learning new offensive and defensive schemes in order to get the Bulldogs back in the playoff picture.

Head Coach: Anthony Renfro

Assistant Coaches: Quinten Jones (Offensive Coordinator/Running Backs), Dan Swaim (Defensive Coordinator/Safeties), Jamie Arizpe (Wide Receivers), Jacob Freeman (Offensive Line), Joe Cornett (Offensive Line), Karl Terrbonne (Quarterbacks), Ryan Harr (Tight Ends), Charlie Jones (Wide Receivers), Doug Tamcke (Cornerbacks), Arron Pohl (Inside Linebackers), Lee Martin (Defensive Line), Micheal Perry (Linebackers), Robert Wells (Defensive Line)

Offense:

Four starters return to the La Porte offense, which will run out the I formation in 2019.  Coming back to lead the offense will be senior quarterback River Thompson.  Junior tight ends Champion Taylor and Albert Regis will join senior wide outs Elijah George and Tyron Mathews.  Senior center Nathan Davila returns to lend guidance to an inexperienced line which includes senior linemen Dylan Casey and Trey Gonzalez and junior lineman Albert Hernandez.

Defense:

Three starters return to the La Porte defense, which will run out of the 3-4 set, in 2019.  Senior Agave Flores will return to man the defensive line along with junior David Hernandez.  Juniors Eric Bright and Jordan Morales will return to the Bulldog linebacker group.  La Porte will be particularly young in the secondary as senior Tyrell Bright will be joined by juniors Terince Siofa, Travis Greenawalt and Marcus Martinez.

Special Teams:

Sophomores Levi Hilborn and Patrick Allen will vie for both the place kicking and punting jobs for La Porte.
