WOSgrad Posted June 22, 2019 Report Share Posted June 22, 2019 This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up 2019 FOOTBALL TEAM PREVIEWS DIBOLL LUMBERJACKS 2018 Record: 9-2 Overall, 5-1 District District 11-3A-I Runner ups The Diboll Lumberjacks definitely did thrive from finally playing teams closer to their own size in District 11-3A-I as the Lumberjacks dropped only one district game en route to a district runner up finish in 2018. Head Coach Blake Morrison expects much more of the same as a veteran group (8 starters on each side of the ball) returns to compete for a district title and a long stay in the Class 3A, Division II playoffs. Head Coach: Blake Morrison Assistant Coaches: Steve Day (Defensive Coordinator/Safeties), Danny Montgomery (Defensive Line), Stanley Scott (Defensive Line), Adrian Vasquez (Linebackers), Luis Rios (Outside Linebackers/Running Backs), V.J. Bunner (Cornerbacks), Jason Taylor (Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks), Chance Johnson (Special Teams Coordinator/Offensive Line), Orlando Estrada (Offensive Line), James Davis (Receivers) Offense: Eight starters return to the Diboll offense in 2019. Senior quarterback Dylan Maskunas (2nd team all-district) will trigger the Lumberjack multiple pro offense. Joining him in the backfield will be senior running back Daris McMillan (1st team all-district) with sophomore running back Jaylon McMillan and senior H-back Hunter Smith also seeing time there. Senior wide out Javaughn Luster (2nd team all-district) will lead a receiver group that will also include senior receivers Demaria Cook and Hagan Pierce. Senior Ricardo Harrison (1st team all-district) will lead an offensive line which will also feature junior Kristian Mireles. Defense: Eight starters also return to the Diboll defense in 2019. Sophomore defensive end Jeremiah Gums (11-3A-I Defensive Newcomer of the Year) will lead a defensive line which will feature senior nose guard Ethan Mendoza and senior defensive end Hezekiah Freeman. Senior linebacker Hayden McLeroy (1st team all-district) and senior outside linebacker Agustine Martinez will lead the Lumberjack receiver corp. Senior strong safety Jermiah Settler (1st team all-district) and senior cornerback Tyveon Willams (2nd team all-district) will anchor a Diboll secondary that will also include feature senior free safety Chase Tamez and Jaylon McMillian. Special Teams: Senior Adrian Garcia will handle the place kicking duties while Maskunas will do the punting. Kick return duties will be finalized during summer practice.
