  4. Okay guys, this one's for the District Title and a 45 year old rivalry . Lets hear what the fans and players have to say in regards to the game. Remember we all have pride in our alma mater and this is all in good fun! 8)
  5. On the upper concourse level there will be renovations done. * Hightlight Former Players and Coaches * Redo of the trophy case * A large 3D Cardinal Head * History on the walls. I also heard they are think of having tailgating before every Saturday game. * no charge for the food; but donations will be accepted.
  6. Heres to a hard hitting, injury free, great night of football. Good luck to you Raiders. Scalp EM' NDNS
  7. You run the I-Formation offense and your upcoming opponent is running a 4-3 defense 75% of the time. Their defense has a pair of above average defensive ends with a below average tackle. The linebackers are fast and aggressive. Your offense has a solid running game witth an average set of receivers on top of a quarterback that is a traditional pocket-passer transitioning to a dual-threat mode. The line is somewhat average but not bad. How would you script the first 15 plays against the 4-3 defense? Would you take such a manner in scripting the playbook? And why would you call the plays you called? Debate away!
  8. Beginning at 9 be sure to listen here on the site to Mike Sanchez and Jordan Wilson as they talk HS Football. Show will repeat at 10. Standalone player to click on will be posted.
  9. First of all let me say this is uncharted water for me. My belief is that it's not my place is not to tell a coach how to play his players or try to get my son playing time. With that being said when should a parent step in and ask a coach what the heck is going on here.
  10. Here is another element to the Chalk Talk I want to bring in. This one involves strategy. Recently, the Hawaii-Louisiana Tech game made me think of this senario. Let's say that you are facing a high-powered offense and it is a high scoring game and the game is a district game that is the decider on whether you go to the playoffs or stay at home. Your offense has managed to stay in the game and you find yourself down by one pending an extra point to tie the game and send it into overtime or a win pending a successful two point attempt. You know your defense will not stop the high-powered offense in overtime and your offense is not exactly equipped to handle shoot outs with a high octane offense. What do you do? Lay it all on the line and go for the win? Or do you take the extra point and send it to overtime and take your chances? As you know, the extra point is not exactly a given. Neither is the two pointer. Season is on the line.. You make the call! Explain your reasons for making your choice.
  11. The Spread: Successes, Failures, Taste and Evolution Rating In the last few years we have seen many schools transform their offensive into a spread formation. With that being said, what in your opinion are the biggest successes and failures of the spread offense? What do you like and dislike about it? Give us detailed reasons. And finally, what do you see in the future of the spread formation in terms of popularity and its evolution?
  12. alright lets have a talk about this district.....what i dont understand is how kountze got last in district......they should be ahead of anahuac and hardin cause there records sucked....and kountze beat them as well.....but kounze had their fair share of losses as well but you gotta admit that they were tough.....but during buna game they didnt play at all...but if kountze was to play then they would have some competetion......east chambers is alright but there revolved around one player.....you never hear about any other players do ya??? as well as deweyville.......just tell me what you think about it...
  13. You know 'em and love 'em (or love to hate 'em ), but who do you say talks the most smack without having any reason to on this board? I'm not talking about the genuinely good teams -- this is about the fans whose teams who, for example, have not played a playoff game since Hitler was a corporal but are going to "win it all" this year?
  14. USC coach to talk to Mayo about marijuana charge Southern California coach Tim Floyd reserved comment Saturday in the wake of star recruit O.J. Mayo being cited for misdemeanor marijuana possession late Friday in Huntington, W.Va. According to reports, Mayo was one of four men cited for possession after the car they were riding in was pulled over, according to Cabell County Sheriff's Deputy Doug Adams. "I'm not going to have any response on it until I know more about it," Floyd told reporters after USC lost to Oregon 81-57 in the championship game of the Pac-10 tournament Saturday night in Los Angeles. "I'm going to talk to O.J. before I talk to you guys." Mayo, who starred for Huntington High School, is considered by many to be the nation's top high school basketball player. It is the second incident involving the Trojans' signee, who was suspended three games as punishment for being ejected and making contact with a referee in a Jan. 26 game. Mayo transferred this season from Cincinnati's North College Hill to Huntington and signed a letter of intent in November to play next season at USC.
  15. Who wins this District? LC-M seems to be down some but with Griffith they always have a chance. Ozen scares me with a load of players back. Dayton looks to have plenty of talent.
  16. Coach fired for halftime pep talk Coach told players to 'check their manhood' LEEDS, Maine (AP) - A high school basketball coach was fired after telling his players at halftime to reach into their pants to "check their manhood," administrators said. Leavitt Area High School Principal Patrick Hartnett said coach Mike Remillard told the varsity boys Jan. 23 that "tonight's game was about who had the biggest (male genitalia) in town." "He then required his players to all stand up and put their hands down their pants and check their manhood," Hartnett said in the statement, which was read to school board members Thursday by Superintendent Thomas J. Hanson a day after the coach was dismissed. All but one player followed the coach's instructions, Hartnett said. The team won the game. Remillard, who was in his fourth season as varsity coach, called the pep talk "normal locker room banter from Fort Kent, Maine, to San Diego, California," but said he still should not have done it. "Was that tactic appropriate? No. And I'm paying the price for it," Remillard said

  18. Yankees win bid to talk to Japanese pitcher Yankees win rights to Igawa for $26,000,194 By RONALD BLUM, AP Baseball Writer November 28, 2006 NEW YORK (AP) -- The New York Yankees got a chance to sign a Japanese pitcher on their second try this offseason, winning the rights Tuesday to Kei Igawa after losing out to the Boston Red Sox two weeks ago for Daisuke Matsuzaka. New York's offer of $26,000,194 -- the last three digits matching his strikeout total this year -- was the highest bid among major league teams for Igawa, and it was accepted Tuesday by his Japanese team, the Hanshin Tigers. "The Yankees are a team with a lot of tradition," Igawa said at a news conference in Osaka. "They get a lot of media attention, like the Tigers do. I was surprised to hear the team bid that much for me, and I feel like today I've taken another step toward realizing my dream." Boston bid $51.1 million earlier this month to win the right to negotiate with Seibu Lions' Matsuzaka, the MVP of the World Baseball Classic and a possible No. 1 starter. A 27-year-old left-hander, Igawa could compete for a spot at the back of New York's rotation next season behind Chien-Ming Wang, Mike Mussina and Randy Johnson. Carl Pavano, coming off 1 1/2 seasons of injuries, also would be in the rotation if healthy, and the Yankees have expressed possible interest in signing free agents Ted Lilly or Gil Meche. New York has until midnight at the end of Dec. 28 to work out a contract with Igawa's agent, Arn Tellem -- who also represents Yankees left fielder Hideki Matsui. Igawa allowed a home run to the New York Mets' David Wright this month during an exhibition game between Japanese and major league All-Stars. "We have been following Kei Igawa's very successful and accomplished career in Japan, and we are excited about the opportunity to begin the negotiating process with him," Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said in a statement. The Yankees pay Hanshin only if they reach an agreement with Igawa. "I am very pleased to have the rights to sign him for the Yankees," owner George Steinbrenner said in a statement issued by spokesman Howard Rubenstein. The Yankees bid between $32 million and $33 million for Matsuzaka. The Red Sox have until midnight at the end of Dec. 14 to agree to a deal with Matsuzaka and his agent, Scott Boras. "I'm looking forward to having a pitching duel with Matsuzaka," Igawa said. "I know the fans there have very high expectations and I'll do my best to live up to them." After the bidding on Igawa closed Monday, the Tigers were informed of the amount of the high bid, but not which team made it. The Mets bid between $15 million and $16 million for Igawa, a baseball official said on condition of anonymity because the amounts of losing bids are not disclosed. Igawa went 14-9 last season with a 2.97 ERA. He tied for the Central League lead in strikeouts -- he won strikeout titles in 2002 and 2004. Igawa, the Central League's 2003 MVP, has an 86-60 record with a 3.15 ERA. He would have to play in Japan for three more seasons before he could become a free agent. AP Sports Writer Jim Armstrong in Tokyo contributed to this report.
