NetCat reacted to UT alum in Bands you couldn't live without
Jorma Kaukonen, lead guitar for Jefferson Airplane and cofounder of Hot Tuna with Airplane bassist Jack Casady, has been live-streaming almost every Saturday at 7:00 on YouTube from his place in Ohio. Mostly him on acoustic playing for about an hour and a half. Jack came out and did a few acoustic shows with him. A couple weeks back they got together in Ohio and got their drummer in and recorded an electric show that’s airing tomorrow night. If you want to see a couple of old dudes who can still lay down some power trio blues, tune in and check it out. Search “Fur Peace Ranch” on YouTube. Should be listed as Quarantine Concert #28. Geezers rock!!!

In other words, Ray Charles, Jr. You have no proof, nor saw any proof from a source. Your daddy, Ray Sr.

You ever listened to Albert King? Man could play! I could listen to the Born under a Bad Sign album all day. Highly recommend the set King did with Stevie Ray.

An engineer died and went to Hell. When he got there, he looked around and said “Man, this place needs fixing up. Mind if I do a little work on it, Satan?” Satan said, “sure”, and the engineer went to work. First, he installed a big AC system. Next, he built a waterworks system. Ice cold water fountains everywhere.
He’d started on a sewerage plant when God looked down and saw all the work he was doing. He decided Heaven could use a little sprucing up and got to thinking maybe he’d sent the guy to the wrong place. He told Satan, “Look, this engineer got sent to the wrong place. Send him up here. Satan said, “No, he works for me. You can’t have him.”
God said, “What do you mean, No? I am omnipotent. You can’t refuse me!”
The Devil said, “I’m not letting go of him”
God replied, “Fine. I’ll sue you and we’ll see who wins.
Satan chuckled as he said, “Where you gonna find a lawyer?”

Yes, I have listened to it. Let’s just say Leon Russell got around. The list is too long. Lol

First season was History Channel. Showed some weird stuff, and actually show UFO’s (literally unidentified light orbs) that appeared when they fired small rockets up with instrumentation on them. Interesting and scary place.

That album by Freddie King I recommended, Burglar, has a song called “Sugar Sweet”. Freddie’s rhythm guitarist on that one - Eric Clapton. Both Freddie and Lightnin’ Hopkins had an influence on a bunch of the later blues guitar greats.

Well, a playlist of his recordings would be incredibly brief. However, all of the guitarists of the later generations I’ve seen mentioned here stand on his shoulders.

Love Hooker, whatever album Boogie Chillin was on I used to play all the time. But one day I left it out and my son, who was 3 or 4 at the time, thought it was a cool Frisbee. Lost the album and a lamp that day. He still hates when I tell people that story 😂

I’m a fan of all music
i ve worked the bonaroo music festival several times.
Like many have said depends on the mood
classic country is my main stay
during my sports playing days the song “die eier von satan” by Tool always got me hyped up even tho the lyrics are about cooking.

I can’t listen to them at all... I’m just not in that headspace anymore. I guess I’m just getting old.

You got me. I'm officially an old man telling the kids to get off my lawn. Because all I heard was 13 mins of noise and robots farting (inside joke for my boy dj joe kurve)

Man, that’s a toughie because my tastes have changed as I’ve aged.
I grew up in the era of the hair bands and then grunge/thrash.
I saw Pantera several times back in the day and they WOULD have been my favorite, but I just can’t handle it anymore. I guess it’s my low T or something.
Early Skynyrd is under appreciated. Motown soul (Marvin, Sam Cooke, Otis). I’ve seen John Mayer a few times and he is also under appreciated. George Strait will forever be the king of country.
Lately I’ve been into a lot of alternative country I had a Blackberry Smoke phase, Cody Jinks phase, Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson, and Tyler Childers are just the kind of catalogs I’ve been through in the last few years.
The Drive-by Truckers have a top notch catalog. If you check them out, you’ll be going through it for months. The last couple of albums are too political for my taste, but otherwise they are a fantastic representation of the way a lot of white educated southerners from my generation feel on social issues. They were a favorite of mine for years.
This week I’m all over the new Koe Wetzel. The Turnpike Troubadours are another current favorite of mine.
It doesn’t get any sweeter than the Blackwood Brothers backing up Elvis.
I love music, lol.

I’m learning “Can’t Find My Way Home” on my guitar. Started playing in July ‘19, took lessons 8 mos., love it. Really turned out to be a fortuitous happening: Been a great distraction during COVID times.
