  1. A WOS Grad. More so, a true loyalist to SE Texas football family!
  2. Todd Dodge announces retirement. It will be effective after this season.
  3. You said exactly that. Man up. You got called for it. I pull for Newton big time. Truthfully. But, gotta tell ya Hoss. Don’t moonwalk. WOS has never been shy of competition. History check. No fake news. I just know we had to play a PE Class in KIPP for two years. It hurt us. I got your marinate loud and clear. Let’s go SE Texas. Pulling for W.T. to repeat this year. That is complete honesty. I rep SE Texas wherever I go.
  4. When Cornel was begging on his knees for a game to fill that last two years, it was No. We had to play a flag football team in KIPP. Let that marinate.
  5. Gas, it ain’t gonna change his opinion. He will still have the sense they were cheated. 39 in a row.......
  6. Pulling for PNG. Much respect through the years. The Golden Triangle is Family. Living away from the area since the early ‘80’s, you appreciate your roots, and it’s folklore. Football in our area is truly special. My name on here certainly states my allegiance. Along with that, go Indians! Also, Monte Barrow is my second cousin. Great job this year to my cousin Linda’s son!
  7. I certainly recognize that everyone’s viewpoint is based on a perspective from their own experience. I understand the article touching on the social issue of the experience of a man of color. There is no doubt there is truth to be seen in it, no matter your color / culture. The point of my post that WOSGRAD posted, is how horrible the writer makes Orange sound. It’s a bit much. There is some good in Orange, Mr writer. No one should turn deaf ears and be one-sided.
  8. Coaching is just truly a benchmark at WOS. Truth. Athletes? Yes. IMO, this year is a testament to coaching!
  9. This will be the Mustangs most difficult task, thus far. Huge task.
  10. I have a headache with being exposed to making such drama / debate over this rugby plan. Yet, losing by 25. WOS won a State Championship in another "workmanlike" manner in Houston last year. I'm resting my headache for another hopeful trip to Jerry World. Spare me the details please. I'm trying to run out this clock till Dec 16.
  11. Skipper is the typical Golden Triangle football fan. He loves his team and has a great heart. He is everything good about Texas Schoolboy football. The water might have risen Skipper, but nothing rises higher than your support of local football. Golden Triangle family!
  12. No disrespect, but a few thoughts: 1. Dubois seems to energize his kids, but simply does not integrate the passing phase out of the run, are switch gears when needed. It's not his system. Trouble. 2. What you did in Pop Warner does not mean it will happen on Friday nights. 3. The D Line for the Mustangs is flat out talented. I know our history pretty dang well. Might be our best unit ever as a group. Smack. They are just too talented for BC's line. 4. Mustangs offense probably slices BC's less talented athletes. Just truth. 5. Barring multiple turnovers, I see no way a sensible person cannot see what's coming. Fine to get hyped, then Tyson punches you. 6. The coaching staff and team chemistry at WO-S, is simply on another level. Cornel, and company, have elevated the program to memories of yester year. The two best coaches in Southeast, TX are T and Larry Neumann. Giving coach of the year award to Dubois over Cornel a season or two ago, probably fuels Cornel's inner voice. Not good. Game over. Just the truth to a reasonable, not foggy fan. No injuries to either team. Both have some fun times ahead this year. BC runs an offense that gives many defenses headaches. Just not the one wearing silver hats. Honest as I know how to be.
  13. High School football players and gauging their "greatness" in high school, should not be benchmarked against college and pro careers. You are comparing how they did as 18 yr old kids and below. Nothing more, nothing less. When you name an all time team, it's how they performed / achieved at the high school level. My opinion. I believe that is the equalizer / qualifier in the argument.
  14. Good luck to PN-G, Newton, Westbrook, Silsbee, H-F, and Lumberton tonight.  Pulling for Southeast, Texas family.

  15. Coach Chief Wilson has passed away.  He was the coach during the Steve Worster era at BC.  He led the Cardinals to the 30-6 State Championship win against McKinney in 1966.  I have great memories of the time.  God bless ya Coach, and thanks for the memories...
  16. Gasilla is absolutely right on with his point...  Any of us that have been around sports for a long time can think of many teams and sports figures that pulled off the "unthinkable" or the "major upset".  You go into a game thinking you got it in the bag, and you will be airing up basketballs much quicker than you had hoped.  WO-S had had some losses that, to this day, I just try to not ponder on.  Correction on the first one Gas mentions '89 game vs. C.E. King in the tormenting rain at Rice University.  It was just an upset in major proportions.  In '98, WO-S held Silsbee to -17 yards offense and one first down (courtesy Kelton Traylor, ha).  Then in the first round at Port Arthur's Memorial Stadium,  we lost.  It happens.  Every year in the Texas Schoolboy Playoffs, someone loses in the first round that shouldn't.  I refuse to get on a message board and declare victory.  I declare to work your rear off, prepare as if there is no tomorrow, or you COULD be sitting in a recliner years later, or driving back late at night wondering "what if"...  This you can write down - Cornel Thompson will have his full focus on West Columbia.  That's how he rolls.  He won't even talk about "next week" as a rule of thumb.  He just doesn't click that way.  This talk of Navasota and Cowboy Stadium  is  STUPID fellas (and ladies).  Better strap it on and get ready for your opponent you are about to lineup against or you will be talking YMBL etc...  Gasilla, I'll guarantee, is in full agreement as his posts always state.  He knows what he is saying...  Mustangs - this week it's West Columbia and you better quit talking about anyone else....
