  1. IDK. The rate that they're opening schools in Houston, Dallas and Austin, the bar for what's a 4/5/6 school jumps by a a few hundred every two years. Lumberton may just eke it out and stay down here. If they do move up, that's Cleveland all over again. I expect to see Nederland and PNG in Big 4A in a few years and West Brook in 5A, not because they shrunk, but because everywhere but the Golden Triangle is growing like wildfire. It wouldn't surprise me if the cutoff line is 875 between the 4As next go round and 1400 for 4/5A.
  2. Will next year be the last in Big 4A? Sounds like the school is really small. Competition won't be easier but at least the travel will be better. Good luck with basketball.
  3. Congrats to Vidor. Good luck next week against Lindale. All it takes is one win to make your season. Hopefully y'all figured things out tonight.
  4. Damn, LCM. Hopefully the young guys got to learn and will be better next year.
  5. From worst to first. District champs. Hats off to Hargrave. It's easy to see why they were the champs. On to Tyler Chapel Hill.
  6. 20-14. Livingston. It's going to be a close game. Hargrave loses its first district game since 2018 and plays Palestine next week in Madisonville. BTW, this is ABC 13's game of the week. You can watch the Texan Live broadcast on the ABC13 app. Roku and Amazon have the app in their stores.
  7. That's why we play. Most of the team will be playing football for a few more weeks, so they will be rusty and not in ball shape. The Lions are the tallest, fastest team in district. They are a nightmare matchup. TABC has missed this badly.
  8. Palestine and 10-4A-I Runner up in Madisonville next Friday at 7.
  9. They got more run than Damien Ruiz, who is awesome and a great baseball player to boot. I expect next year's team to be better. They have some frosh and sophs contributing right now and they will be better with this year's run. I would expect them to be the district favorite and possibly gets some pre-season love. I'm just glad the seniors, my son included, got a chance to experience some winning football before they graduate. Y'all go out, put Lumberton out of its misery, and redeem your season.
  10. A true Golden Triangle legend, Billy Tubbs passed away tonight at 85 near Lake Texoma. The Lamar community will always remember his contributions to our school. He was a great Cardinal. RIP
  11. A true Golden Triangle legend, Billy Tubbs passed away tonight at 85 near Lake Texoma. The Lamar community will always remember his contributions to our school. RIP
  12. 21-4A is going to be a dogfight. No way Splendora is the fourth best team. Hargrave Livingston/HJ Hamshire-Fannett Shepherd Splendora Liberty I wouldn't be surprised to see HJ, Huff, and Liv all beat on each other and fighting for the top seed.
  13. Undefeated at home, first time since 1962 winning 7 games in a row. This will go down as one of the better Livingston Lions teams, especially considering no one outside that locker room thought they would compete. Hopefully this is the beginning of a long run of yearly success.
  14. It's a hard job. Bless them for going out there every week after working a full-time job to go out and referee a children's game and suffer the abuse of parents s who have for the most part never played the game, let alone know the rules. And then suffer the indignity of coaches chewing on their ears for 2.5 hours. They don't pay those guys and gals enough. Sure, I boo too. But I try to remember the refs are doing their best and they are in a thankless position. All the experienced refs are retiring and not enough new people are signing up. Its a vicious cycle.
  15. It's been a house of horrors for Livingston. I would feel better if they were traveling to us. But I think you're correct. Livingston is going to find a way and play the winner of Chapel Hill-Henderson in bi-district. Neither of those teams is playing good football right now. And Palestine got smacked around pretty good tonight, they're locked into 3rd in 9-10A-1. Depending on how it works for you (win first, then worry about the tiebreakers), you're either getting Kilgore or Lindale and both of them are clicking. That's going to be a wonderful game. Just getting to the playoffs would be a good jump on the next season for such a young team.
  16. Yeah, the winner of Vidor-Lumberton is in, so is winner of LCM-Splendora. I guess we'll figure out 3/4 afterwards. Win or go home. You control your own fate. No one wants it to come down to a calculator and it won't.
  17. Splendora lost. The Bears got a shot at home. This is crazy. Two 4-0 teams and everyone else 1-3. Only need the calculator for determine who's third and fourth out of the winner of Splendora-LCM and Lumberton-Vidor. Friday is going to fun!
  18. LCM played a better second half. And Livingston ran a different offense tonight. They never run jumbo unless they are at the goal line. it's always a spread. Hats off to the Bears for making the second half interesting. Good luck next week.
  19. Ball game 18-6 Livingston. District title is on the line in Huffman next Friday.
  20. 12-0 Livingston at the half. LCM gets the ball to start the half. Livingston missed their first PAT, was stopped shot inches on it's 2pt conversion, and missed a chance to score a TD at the half after getting the ball back with 40 seconds to go. LCM has not looked good.
  21. To my fellow Bears, LISD streams the game on it Communications Department Youtube page. Go to the school website for more details.
  22. 66 degrees and no wind on Senior Night. Here's to a good game.
  23. I think Jasper might be a little better. Their offensive and defensive lines are bigger and more consistent. And they don't freelance as much in the secondary. I think Livingston has figured out run defense at this point but if you can pass consistently, there's the vulnerability. That's what I'm worried about next week. Not that Hargrave is going to throw bombs but they will run clean short routes and the Lions are going to gamble and let a short pass break loose.
  24. Livingston was in that game until an ill fated fake punt call in its own end zone with less than a minute till halftime and down 7-0 and receiving the Q3 kickoff. The play worked but we didn't pick up the first down. Palestine turned around and scored a few plays later and the game was over. I don't think we do that again in that situation. The kids would welcome a rematch if that's how falls. The District of Doom, as KTRE calls it up here, is solid, but I think our teams have a shot of at least a tie in bi-district. Many people thought/believe Vidor was going to be tough in 4A. All it takes is one game to redeem themselves. Winning a game is hard, let alone a playoff game. Some teams start the season with state or bust as the goal, others just want to improve from last year. This district is kind of in the middle. There's no state title contender but there's enough firepower to make things interesting. So yes, I believe this district has had success in the past and hope it can improve.
