Silsbee had a ton of calls go there way. The only reason why we didn't have anyone foul out was that Coach Wise put in players early in the 2nd quarter that usually get off the bench until the game is almost over. He used his bench well and they were deep enough to save the guys in foul trouble from fouling out. How many players touched the floor for Silsbee and played significant minutes compared to JY? Coach Wise used his players "wisely". That's kind of funny. Silsbee had 27 fouls to JY 20 and Silsbee had 2 players foul out with 3 others with 4 fouls. JY had no player foul out and had just 2 with 4 fouls. I thought the game was called evenly. [/quote]

[/quote] I'm glad someone that wanted Silsbee to win recognizes that. These are the worst Refs we (JY) have seen all year. JY  played 5 against 8. WoW. Who picked these guys? Silsbee played their hearts out and yes there were bad calls all night, but anyone that gets on here and says that the game was called "fairly" is just kidding themselves. JY had to toughen up tonight against a team that played like they had nothing to lose. I applaud Silsbee's effort and true grit on the court, but when a Silsbee kid slides with the ball as if he's coming into 2nd base and there was not a travelling violation called, you have to scratch your head. Another thing that I will mention is a Silsbee kid fell out of bounce and the ball landed on top of him before it touched the floor and the ref called it Silsbee ball (the ref was right there next to the kid, on top of the play), you could tell who the refs wanted to win. They should never call another game as long as they live. SMH allll... night.

You don't have to like our style of play or even respect it, but this style of play has won us 2 state 4A titles (Back to Back). The 1st one, we beat Dallas Kimble and the 2nd one, we beat Lancaster and wound up being national champs as well. We did lose to Dallas Kimble last year in the state final (The Travis twins lost also). We were not happy, but we understand that losing is a part playing the game. Our enrollment dropped and so we dropped to 3A. We played Dallas Kimble this year and beat them soundly, so for you to say that we are running from Dallas Kimble is funny and untrue. Giving your opinion is one thing and giving facts are another. Don't get the two twisted. There are fans from every school that we all wish would just sit down and shut up, because they make us real fans look the same way as themselves. Nobody is talking bad about HJ. Your guys played a real scrappy game and showed a lot of heart. As educated fans, we don't think that we will walk through 3A and everybody will lay down for us. We expect the best game from everybody we play and nothing less. Texas A&M wasn't suppose to beat Alabama in football this, but look what happened. We are not taking this game or any game for granted. We just want a fair game , because we always have to play against the refs as well.

Silsbee has been scouting JY since last year when we played Wheatley in the playoffs at Delmar. I wondered why they were at that game and now I know. May the best team win.

I never thought I would root for Silsbee in any game, but I hope they beat Yates, [/quote] I'm glad we agree to disagree.  I was there also and your facts are not completely accurate.  Which Coach are you saying was standing there with these players and pretty much approved of what you said happened?  Can you describe which one this was?  Our principal and the HISD officers who were present were handling the situation to see if anything further needed to happen.  We would love to pass that information along.  I'm glad to know that a single strange fan from HJ was able to merely say move along and the boys from Silsbee simply shuffled along.  We respect your sound skills assessment of our team, you did a great job, maybe you should have passed that information along to the HJ coaches and the outcome would have been in their favor. I'm sorry, you don't approve of our particular style of play.  Now, if you think that we're not capable of and don't already have the skills needed to compete against a team who plays the slow tempo, 4 corners, set it up (in other words the ability to run plays) we can, we have and we do.  We have played several teams we had to play that way.  But in the end, we control the tempo of the game, we will play our game, not theirs.  But I'm sure a basketball purist like yourself understands that.  Yes, dunking is a tool in our tool bag, are we ashamed of it, NOT AT ALL!! BTW, we got maybe 30 points from the dunks, how do you account for the remaining 89?  Maybe you should encourage your teams to add a few more tools to their current toolbox and maybe things will work out in their favor.  I'm sure If I asked you what about the team you respected prior to the other night, it would take you a moment to gather your thoughts. You can't please everyone and we know this.  I'm sure Yates is not the first group of people, participating in a sport who's guilty of trash talking and I doubt highly they will be the last.  After the Silsbee and Kashmere game, ALL of their players along with and adult (can't say it was a coach or not, so I'm not going too), came up the steps and started hurling remarks at our fans along with messages that they wanted Yates and to tell our boys what was going to go down. We didn't run down the stairs or any of the foolishness that should have went along with it.  We weren't offended either.  It did show us that SILSBEE is ready to play also.  Most athletes and competitors are going too at some point.  So don't wag your finger at our kids as if this is something that you have never witnessed before.  Me personally, I'm glad nothing came of the situation that couldn't be corrected.  So while I respect your opinion, I highly disagree with it. The players will decide it on the court Tuesday evening and by the way, the JY fans will be in the building. I just want to see a fair game called by the refs. It seems like we have to play against the refs as well. HJ had an extra man on the court with one of the 'refs' making some horrible calls. It is very rare that a ref calls a 'tech' without prior warning.

Most knowledgeable JY fans know that on any given day and on any given court, any body can be beat. HJ was real scrappy and played tough. JY had not played in over a week and a half, so the rust showed. No excuses though. I would like to see a game where the refs call a fair and even game. Maybe some day we get one of those games???
