Yea I bet we won’t lose during the bye week lol make it 2 weeks of peace and quiet. Two wins in a row vs the church schools but coming soon we get LCM and L-Town. The frantic fans will be back with a vengeance, until then we celebrate.

Just your standard 10 pm freight train slowing down and blocking traffic as everyone is trying to leave the stadium… gotta love Vidor. 🚂

I hope so but that team played soft coverage type defense in the first half, in the second half they started stacking the box and selling out to stop the run. Most teams we play know what’s coming but the thing that encouraged me tonight was the play of our defense. They played good coverage for the most part, applied pressure to the QB and got some turnovers. That helped our offense tremendously by keeping the other teams defense on the field but it goes hand in hand the offense was able to sustain drives, get first downs and keep our defense fresh. Mainly because they didn’t have a bunch of illegal procedure penalties or stupid turnovers. The offense looked crisp, ran plays with precision, took a little more time to get everyone set. An injection of new playmakers seemed to spark them, it’s not all on the QB Odom or FB Watson anymore they had some help tonight. We finally played complimentary football for the first time this season, I think it’s our recipe for success.

Vidor will get their first win of the season and they showed some new blood out there tonight. Not sure if they moved guys up or moved guys around probably both but they looked better on both sides of the ball tonight and played without all the stupid mistakes. Good luck to the Pirates and the SLC Saints the rest of the season. ByB out. ✌️Sounded like SL scored a TD as I’m walking out of the stadium.

They were rotating in other players, some of which were JV players. They also opened up the playbook a little more. I thought some of those JV players gave them a spark they been missing. Good to see the kids get a W.

Haven’t seen 23 do that this season he’s pretty fast of course that’s the first time I’ve seen the Pirates break one and take it to the house this year.

That was my thought too, the defense looked like one of the worst Vidor has had in a long time. It’s supposed to be our strong suit, their best chance may be to go back to the old tried and true. Stack the defense with all of the best players and try to keep games close. Wouldn’t have mattered last night but maybe in the future. Who we got at JV quarterback lol I’m already looking at moving youngsters up.

All Vidor had to do was keep running the ball and they wouldve beat CH.  Still smdh about the coaches panicking and going to the pass

I agree with Boneyard. That was a great analysis. We don't run the slot t like we used to. There's no misdirection and no deception. Our offense is way too predictable. In the past you never knew who had the ball. Now, you know who is getting the ball and where it's going when they break the huddle.....which leads to my next question. If we are a ground and pound, control the clock team why do we sprint to the line and go hurry up every play. We don't let everybody get set and we have several false starts every week.  We probably had 8 last night.
And why, when we do try to pass, we roll the qb left against his body to the short side of the field and then try to throw to a kid who is a lineman and has never caught a pass in his life. We aren't fooling anybody and we don't give ourselves any chance to be successful. Rant over

Vidor has gotten too used to playing this deception style power offense that they fool their own damn selves. 3rd and long multiple times we run it up the gut, 4th and short we pitch it back and try to punt. Blocked and returned for a touchdown, who are we fooling? The opponent is ready for that trickery from us, we’ve done the same stuff for years. If you want to get really crazy then mix in a pass play on 1st or 2nd down but when the down and distance calls for a certain type of play, then you run the damn play and try your best to execute better than your opponent. Get back to playing smash mouth football and make them execute to stop you. 4th and short you line the big boys up and pound the rock, if you don’t want to do that then just do a traditional punt. It’s simple, you ain’t fooling nobody with these quick kick pitch back pooch punts and even if you do execute it you get a short squib punt. Find a kid that can boot the ball, play the field position game, that should be your style with this offense. The defensive scheme can’t seem to recognize that they have us way outgunned on the outside, should have known that before the game even started. Make them run the ball, play soft coverage, keep safety’s over the top. Double the playmaker (Miller in case nobody knows who I’m talking about he’s #1 priority) and maybe we can rally up to make a tackle. We do what we do and are stuck in our ways to our own detriment sometimes.

This all started in last years playoff loss. We tried to be something we were not   A PASSING TEAM. whoever is calling the plays needs to be let go and let the mascot run the offense. As for the defense , the secondary should have let the cheerleaders cover those wide outs because some of themwould have at least a little sense to slow them down. They probably tackle better anyway WE DID WIN THE BAND PERFORMANCE . GO BAND                                                                                                                                                                                                        P.S. I know it’s just the first game but that Vidor offense doesn’t look very crisp so many flags and no explosive plays. The defense looks like they don’t want to tackle anybody not just Miller I mean anybody. They just look defeated already, like they don’t want it. Big step back from last years scrappy little team but we lost some key players to graduation so who knows maybe they figure it out later in the season. I’m out of here boys, good luck to Silsbee y’all look pretty good this year, we got a lot of work to do in Pirate Land.
