WOSgrad got a reaction from TxHoops in WOS Looking for a New Coach
Yep. The "word" must not be out as much as some have asserted here.
But I suspected as much.
Congrats, Coach Castille and welcome to north side of the Rainbow Bridge!

WOSgrad got a reaction from Hagar in What a good representation......Olympics
I think you may be conflating "can they" with "will they."
Can they? Of course they can. There is no legal impediment to the USOPC dismissing her from the Olympic team?
Will they? Which I think is what you are getting at. Sadly, you are probably right. In an age where corporate virtue signaling is cool, the committee would probably, privately anyway, figure that the hit in PR that it shouldn't, but will, receive and potential loss of funding from the virtue signaling corporations isn't worth it. They will then justify keeping her by some statement that is, in itself, virtue signaling.

Of course, perhaps the most ironic way to handle it is keep her on the team and select her to carry the flag at the opening ceremony.

WOSgrad got a reaction from TxHoops in RANDY BIRDWELL NAMED NEW HFC/AD AT HULL-DAISETTA!
I just got off of the phone with Coach Hodges and he is indeed stepping down as both head football coach and athletic director. He will be taking a job as a position coach at Odessa Permian High School.
Coach told me that that this move has absolutely nothing to do with anything regarding Hull-Daisetta. He has loved his time there and promises that this year's team will be an extremely competitive group. In fact, he promised the superintendent that he would stay to supervise S&C workouts until a new coach comes aboard to ensure as smooth a transition as possible.
Coach informed me that family reasons dictated this move. Both his daughter and his son will be attending college in West Texas and he had been searching for opportunities for a while to coach in that area in order to be close to them. Plus, as a having grown up in Boerne and gone to college at Angelo State, he always considered that part of the state home.
Another benefit he stated is that as position coach, he will not be behind an administrative desk as much which he admitted had been a bit of a grind.
Good luck at a very storied program, Coach!

Ah, they're all used to hearing fans of non-football sports blame a football program for lack of success.
And most of the WO-S fans there also know the reason for most of these folks wanting Cornel Thompson to step down has absolutely nothing to do with the state of the other sports in the West Orange-Cove CISD.
And that, my friends, is the real elephant in the room.

A note for tomorrow. I am undergoing an annual heart catheterization tomorrow morning in Houston and will be out of pocket most of the day. So I will probably post tomorrow's previews (Coldspring-Oakhurst, Rusk) tonight.

WOSgrad got a reaction from Mr. Buddy Garrity in MLB Enforcement of Foreign Substances
They idea is okay, but the enforcement is horrible. Just a year or two after implementing measures to "speed up" the game, you are now gonna to make it drag on with these countless checks of foreign substances. That will greatly irritate those that claim that baseball's major problem with the current game is that it drones on for too long.
Use of foreign substances on the baseball is as old as the hill. Heck, it helped Gaylord Perry to a Hall of Fame career. While the current crackdown might improve things, it is not gonna solve things such as lower batting average and increased strike outs. That will only happen when coaches, analytics guys, and, most of all, players, stop worrying about crap like "exit velocity" and "launch angle" and start worrying about putting the bat on the darned ball!

I wish I could my young friend. But unfortunately the final cause can be attributed to operator error.

WOSgrad got a reaction from WOSdrummer99 in Problems with HS Football forum
Sorry about that folks. What happened was yesterday, as scheduled. It was time to rotate the forums so that the fall sports, football and volleyball, to the top and the winter main winter sports, boys and girls basketball underneath it. While volleyball went easy enough, but the basketball forums gave me problems and the football forum wanted to be a little snit.
In moving it, somehow the football forum, where you can have topics, became a category, where is just housed other forums. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw what happened. Thankfully, it was an easy fix to turn it back into a forum and, even more so, all of the topics that were there reappeared.
About 11 pm last night, all was right......well, as right as it can be,
