2. I would have to say these scores and what some of the kids' stats from this week were very surprising. A crazy but great weak in SETX, wish I could have been at more than just 1 game!
 3.

Got to give HJ credit, they fought back and I just knew they'd kick a FG to tie...but they went for the win; great job AP on the stop @ the 2yd line!!!  I'm not sure if it's because I haven't watched a game in a while, but that was some of the hardest hitting I've seen in years...both teams! The injured Panther hauled away in the ambulance is Martice Henry and I'm assuming it's some sort of neck injury, no official word yet, but please keep him in your prayers. Congratulations to my Panthers on starting the season with a win, and hats off to the Hawks for a gutty performance.  Good luck to both teams next week! [img][Hidden Content]]
Glad to see HJ go for the win but disappointed they didn't get it.  Who really wants to settle for a tie that forces overtime in a game from week 0?
I would agree. Going for the win instead of overtime in a non-district game isn't too big of a deal. I think HJ did it because they weren't moving the ball on offense this game and their touchdowns came from defense and special teams. Way to battle HJ, great effort and heart to continue fighting till the last second. Prayers to the anahuac kid as well
 4. Rykerx is definitely in the right direction with his prediction. HJ will be looking at Buna to be one of their teams to beat along with possibilities of Orangefield, HF and Splendora. Buna has an alright Pre-district schedule to play out and with a bump up to a new classification I don't think Buna has a chance to make the playoffs. But goodluck to them and HJ, I hope they both do better than most people are expecting.
 5. HJ can have a good night if they decide to play defense. their offense will score and put points on the board! better hope the defense shows up....
 6. I wasn't at the game but i know the status partially of the game. too many turnovers for HJ once again. Right now is not a good time for HJ's quarterback problem. They had two different qb's throw a total of 4 interceptions, and along with that, there was I think 4 fumbles caused by huffman as well.
Don't let this rub you the wrong way Coop but it has rubbed me the wrong way???  How is it that #1 ranked Silsbee loses to #3 HJ and to #2 Kountze in the same week in back to back games and HJ stays the same and Kountze and Silsbee just flip flop.........what a complete joke!!!!  You never have to say that you don't like HJ.........it shows in how you rank them!!!!! ::) ::) ::) ::)
That is pretty messed up though. He probably just likes to see people like me and you complain about that. and if anyone says "rankings don't matter" then why do we even have them? they matter from a viewing standpoint, I think, and should be UNBIASED!!
 8.
BTW, that's 2 for 2 now for Silsbee boys sports for this school season. 5-0 Football district champs 9-0 (currently, 1 game left) Basketball district champs
GAH! when is Silsbee going to go up to 4A heheh ;D Congrats to all from Silsbee. See yall at the game TUESDAY!!!!
 9. I definitly do not mind with a team running up the score. There are ways for the team to prevent that in football and basketball. Theres no shot clock in highschool basketball...If a team is starting to beat you badly, hold the ball for as long as you want. In football if a team is beating the crap out of you...Then just run the ball and wait for the playclock to get to 1 each time before you snap it. I was apart of the 62-0 loss from WO-S a few years back and I completely dont blame them. It was demoralizing, but we should have played better. Now leaving the starters in the whole game is a different story; however, if you put in second/third stringers in and you're still beating the crap out of them, then thats the other team's fault for bad preparation and lack of focus.

The Hawks definitely seem to be up and down this year. At home I have to give them the advantage, but not by much. 7 point HJ win!
Hmmm, I thought that HJ has been pretty consistant this year. Maybe just a couple of games where they were off.
Well in my own defense I have only been to 4 HJ games. Must have been the few they were off  8)
HJ also has some players that had to adjust to the varsity level since some of them were young. and if those games you went to were towards the beginning/mid part of the season that could be one reason. HJ will hold their own tonight and pull out the win. Good luck to them.
 12.
How long does it take to get football kids in a basketball rhythm?  How much of an advantage does the non-football or few football teams have.   I think there is a definite advantage.  Football kids rarely have a chance to rest there bodies after season.  They start the day after football ends and have to go right into another season.  Sure it is done year after year by most but can you imagine the fatigue?  Basketball conditioning is alot different from football not to mention the pounding a kid that plays in the backfield would take.
Yes, the fatigue is there the first few weeks for those football players switching over, considering I did it myself a few years. However, you do get into rhythm after a few weeks or so. But I think just the fact that you switched from a contact sport to more of an endurance and quick sport allows the body to heal the injuries from contact, but then theres a toll taken on your legs and core from all the running. And if you're a good basketball player to begin with and played since you were little, the rhythm to get back into basketball should not take too long. Thats why at the beginning of basketball seasons you see the good basketball players that started the year before, start off on the bench the first few weeks of the beginning.
No Hayes, No Way!!!!!  OF has a good team but inconsistent team........they rely on Hayes who is one of the best players in SE Texas way too much!!!!  BC takes this game tonight!!!
I still think OF can win if they stay around the perimeter and do what they do best. Keep the game in control and slow down the pace. Hayes absence will take a toll though. I say OF squeaks this one out still.
 14.

I would have to day Yates Nash. No only do Hj rarely have alley-oopers they usually just have a bunch of no shooters with 1 athlete that carries the team. Based in that Yates would be over the "shooters like stank on $----!!! Yates probaly would win by 50. Giving Hj fits with a dose of its own medicine. Hj is only effective when they have the best players in the court. Sooo Yates by 50 Nash. Even tho I don't have a clue who was in that team but I'm pretty sure they didn't have any D1's like Yates have. They can flat out get it done. Hj would be saying this "Coach, their Big, Fast, and Strong" lmao
Last time I checked HJ beat a few teams like that in 1992!!!  You act as if the 92 HJ team could not beat an athletic team??? ::) OR----- Are you just saying that a team full of un-athletic basketball players could not compete with a team ful of athletes???
Sounds like the HJ vs Kountze games this year. I would definitly say Kountze had more athletes on the floor compared to HJ. Not trying to take anything from HJ, they just are well-coached and know how to play. Athletic teams like Navasota or Cleveland from last year were way more athletic than HJ last year as well. but we all know the outcome of those games.
