The reason there was no media coverage is because this 7 on 7 wasn't a state qualifier tourney. It was just a "practice" type to get ready for the state qualifying tourneys. Now as for no law enforcement working this event, that can be questioned. Video isn't the greatest so it's hard to tell if an officer or two was there or not. As I stated previously on this thread, Mike T has been an essential part of WB’s success the last few years & is a student of the game & I have a ton of respect for how he goes about things as a coach. Big on teaching kids how to do things the right way to prepare them for not only basketball but the game of life. He’ll be fine there, my only question is what kind of talent does WB have returning? Best thing about this situation for Mike T is WB will be 5A for at least the next 2 years, so he should win a lot of games & have some deep playoff runs.

I went to png and we did not have the numbers nor the size that png has now. Png won state because they had the size in the trenches that it takes to win. Nederland was small in the trenches. No one could have done any better last year. They made the playoffs with a undersized team.

I've been wanting to respond to this.. I get to see most of these players up close more than most people. Boulwen is pretty closed to 6'4". Walker is probably in the 6'1" tp 6'2" range. Johnson may actually be bigger than 6'2" He has grown an incredible amount since football season. I would not be at all surprised if he was 6'4" or more by next year. On top of that he just finished third in the district 200 and ran legs on the 4x100 and 4x200 that placed third. I feel he probably will be able to take Miller's place on the court and may well be the best athlete on the floor. I would love to think that Troy might grow another inch or two before next year.

I think that with a lot of "smaller" schools.. in the area for sure.. it's easier to justify giving a higher salary to the head football coach if AD is attached to the job. In turn, being able to attract a higher caliber of applicant for the job. Plus, you won't get a good football coach (in most cases) if they know they have other job responsibilities other than just coaching football. Even if it's a "coaching job" like teaching P.E. or something... but head coaches will want to reserve those kinds of jobs for their coordinators. And yes.. there will be cases where HFC/AD are much more partial to the football program than to the entire athletic program as a whole. To be fair, their job will be on the line based on the success of the football team.. even if every other athletic teams in the school flourishes. So I get it. That's also why I don't really have a problem with hiring an AD only. AD only can be solely responsible for the entire athletic department.. and the HFC can focus solely on the success of the football team.
