  1. Peevy got coach of the year. Now everyone can relax. Instead of worrying about awards let’s go recruit for the coach he needs more players. send the man some money also!😉

  2. #4 had as much business being out there as Landry for LCM did. Neither one was ready. To say 75% would be an overstatement, but I think the Coaches felt they deserved some time on the field. Like COY honors, over and done with (where did the football season go?). Both Coaches had great seasons. Both are good Coaches, but only one winner. Most of you didn’t see the condescending post on the other site about Dist 10 vs their Dist 9. After the playoffs, they were not near so “superior”. So, once again, I’m proud of the whole District.

  3. I think it should be mentioned that Vidor had their best season since 1964. This years 1 loss team had a better regular season than any that came before them in 57 years. Some of those old Pirate squads went deeper in the playoffs and they had more talent in my opinion but they lost some close games. This years team figured out a way to win almost all of their close games. I’m telling you it was almost magical, they pulled some impressive comeback wins out of nowhere. Coming back from a big deficit to steal the game late vs Silsbee. Pulling out a last second TD and 2 point conversion to steal the game vs Jasper. Coming all the way back from an almost insurmountable hole vs Lumberton to steal the win in the 4th quarter. All of those games at home in front of a rowdy and amped up crowd. It was a great season for Coach Mathews and the boys… almost magical.

  9. without counting the playoffs, Peevey took LCM from 1-7 to 8-2 lol still the biggest turnaround in our district ...but like i said earlier, its hard to argue the coach from the top seed earning COY

  10. Pirates coached by Mathews went to lcm and smacked them around for 4qtrs…playoffs DO NOT matter when it comes to district awards! Jeff Mathews Head Coach for the Vidor Pirates is Coach of The Year!!!

  11. Coach Mathews is Beaumont Enterprise Super Gold COY also. Just further proves it. Pirates lost to CH by 5 with an injured riddled team when Mathews wasn't even on the sidelines. LCM lost in the 4th round by 17 with Peevey. So?

  12. Man parking sucked again lol.. Then some smart Crosby fan in a white SUV had a whole parking lot blocked in with their dumb parking ability's. And i would be surprised if a few people from the neighbor hood didnt complain to some one. Couple Pissed crosby fans dropping f bombs on them as they asked them not to jump the curbs. reminded me what it was like dealing with idiots..

  20. Liberty Hill about to fall off a Cliff. That SOC team looks like a super team. If LH wins this one it would be a rather large upset in my mind. SOC beat Aledo, Lovejoy and then Lubbock Cooper in three consecutive weeks. Yes Aledo should have beat this team but would anyone think LH even had a shot if it was Aledo? I think SOC would have beat my cougars pretty badly as well, thought before last week that SOC is simply a few steps above everyone left.

  21. Didn't remember it; because I missed that! Thanks for posting. From where I sit, very few little schools (perhaps West Orange) have sent so many athletes to the NFL as Jasper. Nor so many in the High School track record books. Last time I looked Jasper still ranked in the top 10, all time, all classifications in Texas track in FIVE different running events. And the third best time ever run in the USA in the 400m relay. Not to mention sending TWO athletes to the 96 Olympic in Atlanta. Jasper athletes have a lot to be proud of.

  22. Vidor's leading rushers on the year were out...exception was #4. He tried to play but was severely limited...and not to mention Vidor was missing the Coach of The Year.

EC , Kountze, Anahuac and Woodville would certainly be my picks

    22-3A

this is a very tough 3A district for people that do not know all those teams that were named can make a case for getting in the playoffs possibly even winning district i do not think that EC is a lock to win the district

  25. I definitely agree with you, only reason I brought up the playoffs is because you mentioned it. I think Peevey should've gotten it myself, like most thought for such an incredible turnaround from last years team. But I'm saying I can see why they picked Mathews as well... he had some pretty incredible games where Vidor probably had no business winning.

  27. Pirates lost a close game in the first round and LCM lost by more in the 4th round? Not sure that’s a very sound argument you’re making there. Mathews had a good season, and I’m not denying that. But Peevey taking a team that went 1-7 last year and turning them into a team that finished 11-3 this year and went 4 rounds deep was a much more impressive coaching job. It’s not a head-to-head or common opponent award. It’s based on the full body of work. Mathews took a pretty decent team from last year and had a good season this year. Peevey took an awful team from last year and had a great season this year.

  32. I bet Peevey would prefer a deeper playoff run than a meaningless title. C'mon quit hating on LC-M, they did a great job this season. Give credit where it's due

  33. Throwing wild accusations out there just because a local team got beat is non-sense..Could it be that CS just has a better program and better players than WOS? Obviously they are after having knocked out the Mustangs the last two years. Sometimes you just got to tip you hat to your opponent and then put in work to get better…just sayin…

  37. nah, this award was hands down peevey's with or without the playoffs. The bears went 1-7 last year. they were 8-2 at the time this award was decided this year. Results from the playoffs only make it more obvious.

  38. The COY choice could've went either way, imo. Peevey had a really impressive turnaround and Mathews pulled off a few crazy last minute wins all season.

  40. Congratulations to all these young men. The ability/drive/commitment you used/have that made you a success in TX HS Football should be the same assets you use to be a success in life. Take’em and use’em.

  41. I also wonder about the calling EMS to treat people. I am not saying that no one needed it because I was not there however EMS is probably going to get there and pour water bottles over your face. I am not sure if that is the most cost effective means for the school district. I mean it’s in the cafeteria, go get a 25 cent bottle of water and poured over your own face instead of calling a $5000 ambulance?

  44. You ain't lying, I'm tired of the East Texas teams as well. What are the odds, both first round exits for Vidor in 4A have gone to the state semis or further.😅

  45. Wow I didn’t know it had been 60 years since Crosby went to the State Championship. I am kinda new to posting on this board but I’ve followed the board for many years. I was under the assumption that Crosby goes to the State Championship all the time by the way you talk about Crosby on this board. Lol Good Luck to the Cougars!
