I really don’t have much interest in this game other than it is certainly the game of the week in this district. But, 14.2’s comment makes perfect sense and it’s not apples to oranges. “Look as good” means today. Yes the new coach only has five games. That is all 14.2, can compare it to… not five years from now. The way I read it, as of today they don’t look as good as they did previously. In the future? Who knows? They might have the best defense in the state. This week game isn’t played sometime in the future but in about 40 hours.

Problem is that just because someone doesn't get the virus after being vaccinated doesn't mean that the vaccine is what stopped it. Coming up with the 90% effective is absolutely unprovable. Folks should make up their own mind...good luck sifting through the studies, evidence and "science".

I have enjoyed watching FC coached teams. He can put a good QB on the field every season. People underscore how young this years team is. We are very young with many many soph and juniors starting.

I know for PNG beating Nederland (and vice versa) is important to PNG fans, but having a Coach that consistently wins games (except for MCM), and puts you in the playoffs, is more important. Coach Faircloth does that. He puts an exciting package together year after year. You folks supporting PNG could do a lot worse, and getting one better is an iffy proposition. For this area yes they are. But when you look at their talent level compared to all of 6a they are usually a middle of the road team talent wise. Always undersized but have speed. My point was even though WB has talent, they have only been to the big dance twice.

I had a ton of ifs and buts as to why I thought Crosby would beat PAM too after watching y’alls game with them. I totally agree with you there though. One of my BH buddies came to my office today and wanted to bet me on the game but he wanted me to give him 21 points. He by far is the BH sports guy to go to at the job. I said “Heck no, the kids are going to play too hard.” BH’s defense had started to be an issue for Crosby. I know it’s early but BH doesn’t look as good on the defensive side of the ball as they did under TW. I believe BH’s previous DC got demoted to a position coach when Abseck brought his guys in. Not saying that’s the reason but it probably needs to be noted. BH hardly got pressure on KP’s qb without blitzing, KP’s receivers had the BH dbs stacked or flat out beat on probably 65% of their deep routes and several times KP had receivers running wide open through the BH defense and just weren’t see/hit which is why I think they’ll have trouble covering Crosby’s receivers. I think this game is a gauge for both teams to determine how they’ll play their last five games.

'85 was a bad year for us. Great defense, but we couldn't score on most teams for anything. This year is kinda starting out like that.

I’ll be at the game. I think the game could go either way. No one thought we could beat Houston Kinkaid that was ranked #2 in private school last week. I understand you have to prove yourself as a contender. I think the teams that make the playoffs will be HH Vidor LCM and Livingston.

Hard to get a bead on Splendora. 3-1 going into this week vs a 2-2 Shepherd team. The combine record of teams Splendora has played is 5-12. The only team with a winning record (HF) beat Splendora 41-21.

If we want to be honest it's just Turner stadium in general. Worse place to play at IMO

Abseck didn’t bring either state title/finals coordinator with him. DC for their two state titles stayed at CP to work for the new coach they hired from Red Oak who’s also a former CP assistant. The OC from last year got the head coaching job at San Antonio Peiper and took half of CP’s staff with him. BH’s current coordinators were o-line and d-line coaches at CP last year, not sure either guy has even called plays on varsity before this year?

Thanks for the insight. I Agree the defense is lacking from last year, but we lost some studs last year to graduation. It’s a work in progress and whats important to me at this point is that the D can adjust quickly when the Opposing offense finds a wrinkle. At this point I believe that is happening.

If I’m not mistaken, the idiots (and a handful of sane people) in Congress are not required to be vaccinated. And as we all know, they weren’t required to go on Obamacare. There should never be requirements for people that Congress is not also required to do. NEVER. As you can tell, I feel very strongly about this.

I agree 110%. That mind set has been sorely missing in many past Pirate teams. Realistically, if they’re concentrating on this game like they should, Vidor should win by two TD’s minimum. Got my fingers crossed.

Yes, I remember the game very well and yes, LCM does look much improved from the past years but the next couple weeks will speak volumes for the LCM team (Jasper at home, then on the road to Huffman). I've tried comparing last years Vidor team to this years team and there is not much comparison. What stands out the most is this years team. They have a tougher mentality...never quit, always in the fight mind set.

Cowgill,who is on the D staff still was the DC last year. I believe he is LB coach this year. The new DC came in and switched from the 4-3 to a 3-4 because that is what he runs without looking at tape or personnel. If I had one fault so far of the new coach it is that, they already had a great DC and had a good defense, there was no need to reinvent the wheel here. Now you do have the old DC on staff who is probably going crazy watching what is happening on that side of the ball with no control to fix it. That is an issue if I had to guess. Back to last years game, what was the score at half? Wasn't it a close game until the turnovers started happening and a ill-timed fake punt?

I don’t think either of them said as much. That defense under TW was pretty stout in 2019. DL and LB were fast Reggie and Dunn could not beat them to the outside. Not seeing that this year. But it is early. Just hope the weather holds up.

Of course it is the media so you have to take it with a grain of salt but I saw a story that came out yesterday. It said Chapman and “his team” which included dogs, searched some islands that a tip said where Laundrie was supposed to be. Chapman’s conclusion was, there’s no evidence that Laundrie had even been there. I think I saw where he made a comment that he was getting hundreds or maybe even thousands of tips. That means a lot of people and money was wasted on a “tip” that concluded that it had no factual basis. Maybe I will call in a tip that he is hiding in Kokomo in the Keys. Maybe his team can search for a few days before they find out that Kokomo is a fictional location. I will say this, it is easier for the average guy on the street to get a tip and not the police. It does not make you an investigator, some people just don’t want to talk with the police out of fear. Many times when we are investigating something, a witness does not really come forward. Other people however come forward and say hey, that girl with the red blouse standing by herself on the corner witnessed the whole thing. The police then go talk with that girl and sometime it is productive and sometime it is not but the point is, the person that actually knew what happened did not come forward. Word gets out on the street however and those people give tips to the police. A person like Chatman might get a tip direct because people might talk to him or anyone else because they are in fear of talking to the police and being made a witness. That is actually why crime stoppers was created. So there is a chance that Chatman could actually get a tip that would lead to something. By the same reason, a person could walk up to any of us and whisper something like, hey, the guy the police are looking for is buying a six pack of beer at the store across the street. If one of us was to go in and catch the guy, that does not make us a good tracker. It means somebody gave us a good tip. Chatman is hoping that someone gives him a tip and does not give law-enforcement the same tip.

Colmesneil is greatly improved from years past. The coach has them motivated, believing in themselves and playing well. I know Colmesneil is in a very tough district and Tenaha has reigned supreme. I think the Bulldogs will fight hard but may be a year away from competing for a championship. I’m hoping to see the ‘Dawgs fight for a playoff spot and try to win a playoff game this year.

Well, he took a Vidor girls team to the playoff's even if it DID have his mvp daughter on it.....he is a good coach....Parents need to stay out of coaching decisions...PERIOD!!!

I don't know why everyone on here craps on orangefield like they weren't a solid and sound team to beat! They are a dang good football team and this years crop of orangefield football without a doubt is the best orangefield team we have faced in the past four years! and beat a good silsbee team to start district. Keep sleeping on Livingston just like all of you did last year.

Due to weather and construction at HJ the game has been moved to WOS this Friday.

I put out corn in the field behind my house yesterday at 4:15 because my cousin finally got around to cutting and haying it. At 6:30 a shooter buck came out into the corn. I haven't ever seen a shooter behind my house (apart from spikes).

just an outside opinion, and I didn't watch the Ned/WOS game, but it may be issues adapting the playbook to the new personnel due to injuries , etc. Not necessarily throwing out the old playbook. But again that is on the HC and OC to figure out.

Exactly. Heck, the guy barely lost a game in a 4-year span and called plays in 4 state title games. I don't think he's too shabby at what he does. I am with you WO-S#1, it is personnel. Yes, WOS has good players, but it does not match up as an overall team as the teams WOS fielded in the past. Anyone should be able see that.
