I agree. I think the team that we had in 2018 was our best in a long time and other than WOS, we went undefeated during the regular season without playing anyone. If Montavien Hunt would have stayed 100% healthy, we would have had a real shot at winning the whole thing. I know the deal with if and buts very well because there's always something with our team, but he was a gamebreaker unlike few that we've ever had in Jasper. WOS knows that from the first meeting when he went nuts on them. WOS was a lot better when we met the second time, so that wouldn't have happened twice, but he would have made a difference.

WOS played mostly similar opponents when they won state a few years ago. District opponents are what they are. We played a much tougher non district schedule than Sealy yet we still lost by 3, so scheduling doesn’t factor as much as you think. Also WOS wouldn’t see them till the Regional Finals.

Really, if you want straight forward, intelligent conversations, go to the high school sports boards. There are no crazies over there. lol

That's a very slippery slope you are talking about. Next thing you will know that schools or "handlers" will start offering monetary reasons for a kid to transfer to another school just to play sports. I am all about a family making a decision to move out of a bad situation to better themselves. That includes sending their children to what they think is a better school or situation. But, do it within the rules of transfer. The taxpayer part is a very good point.

Not no, but Hell no. WOS doesn’t have the choice of who their district opponents are...they can’t help their schedule. But I think facing better teams and coaches makes YOU an even better team in the end. Hoping for a WOS win, but I left my rose colored glasses in the truck.

He’s not good at passing under pressure from what I saw. If you can get some pass rush on him and contain his scrambling for positive yards, then you will be much better off.

I've seen them both play twice. And w.o is the only team that can beat them. Im not saying that they are.still don't know yet if they are gonna meet.what w.o had on defense will give them problems.and #2 rb will have to have a big game. But Carthage DBs aren't that impressive at all.they will catch the blues from #6 from w.o.either way it will be a one score game.and ill be willing to put money on it.just like w.o hands will be full.so is carthage hands will be full also. They both are loaded.looking at who played who want matter.

Is he similar to the Brazosport QB? I know the Pirates kept LB on him for a QB spy on him to try and contain him and worked somewhat well doing so. I would imagine Livingston's QB has a much better arm considering he's a baseball prospect and I think he'll give us alot more fits than Brazosports QB.

I was the ball boy for the 2000 season, the year the Pirates made the playoffs for the first time in like 36 years. I graduated in 2005 myself and my sister graduated in 2001 and was the athletic trainer that same season. That was such a fun year!

It happens...get over it...I remember maybe 5 or 6 years ago a kid who didnt live on the west side of I-10 couldn't play football for the Beaumont Bulldogs when the kids on the Northside didnt have a team in that league. Eventually a program put a team on that side of I -10 in STJFL. If a parent wants better for there kid then you do what you have to do. I could see if the kid moved his Sr year and that was the missing piece but this kid has went there for 4 years and hes been doing all this since middle school and the parents didnt want him facing the problems of his older brother that was seeming to find them in strange circumstances. Teachers move for better and Coaches also but no one complains about it. Let them go where they want. When people realize that there child isn't competing against the kid across town for a scholarship but the kid across the U.S for 1 then they would be better understanding of putting in more work to help there child achieve his or her goals. This sounds like it could be a bitter relative of a teammate speaking for the parent about there nephew....Carry On...

Oh cool I was CO2K, that 99 team would have been good but they had a stud running back named David Bossa who missed most of the season with an arm infection. He balled out for the first few games then came back in the final game and tore it up again.

No doubt Livingston is the biggest surprise of the year, at least in this area. Regardless of winning or losing the Vidor game, they’ll be playoff bound. Big congrats to the team and fans.

Vidor has always had community support even during the lean years before Mathews became HC. We made the playoffs once in 2000 before he switched to the Slot-T in 2008 (I think) and fit it around the kids that participates and he implemented all the way down to the junior high level to learn the system as well. Since then, the Pirates have made it to the playoffs 5 times since 2009. He also bases playing time on who shows up during summer for workouts. Imo, without him, we wouldn't have the "hot box" indoor facility, the turf field, new restrooms, and video scoreboard. That's all because him getting the school board and boosters standing by and supporting him and all of it came without a bond. Plus, he's a great Christian coach and loves each one of his kids in all athletic sports in Vidor all the way down to the peewee leagues. Just my opinion...

I think we agree, then. I’m not trying to insinuate that Nederland has AVOIDED having a tough preseason. I’m also not saying PNG is clearly better (I may be guilty of ragging the most on PNG’s defense, of all the PNG fans). My point is only that there is no evidence, based on the sample of games that both teams have played, to assume Nederland has the upper hand, or vice verse.
