    Defund, or abolish?

No, they would not. It doesn’t work like that. They have age requirements, different standards, different academies, different laws and so on. You can’t just transfer to another agency. I saw a guy on a Facebook forum (when they thought that Minneapolis was about to lay off all officers) say that there was no big deal because that state and county would just take their place. Okay, Minneapolis loses 800 officers. So the state has 800 troopers sitting around waiting for something to do? Nope.... I looked up MN state police and they have only 591 troopers in the entire state. Do they could completely strip the entire state and cover just over half of ONE city? The county had very few actual street cops but mostlt runs the county jail (which is pretty much the standard). ...,,and again, that is one city. The federal government has completely different laws. They enforce the US Code and state/county/local police enforce their state Penal Code... which are all different. It would be like if all doctors quit, couldn’t veterinary assistants take their place? They are both in medical fields. Then.... let’s assume that you could simply have the state police hire all local officers immediately and forget all of the stuff I just mentioned. You would have the exact same officers patrolling the exact same streets but now the city council who is mad at then would have no control at all over them. All that would do is to stop their own authority and have another government have complete control over the same area that you used to control. To say this isn’t well thought out (by people calling for it) might be the understatement of all time.

    Defund, or abolish?

Detroit defunded the police and OCP instituted the Robocop program. I don’t care who you are but I wouldn’t buy that for a dollar. (Movie reference - sorry)

    Drew Brees’ Apology

I was really looking forward to watching the NFL this season. A respite from politics, stress, strife and the daily grind is what we need. All of the coaches and players are already talking about the protests they have planned for the season. It looks like I might get to watch one game - and see how much it is inundated with something other than sports. I can’t protest on my job and “stick it to the man”, but I don’t make millions to play sports. I used to really enjoy ESPN and Sportscenter before MSM talking points took the place of sports. We shall see, and perhaps I’m in the minority with my stance.

  6. This is why everybody should have stood up for the truth whenever the first people started saying that the police and the justice system are racist, as evidenced by incarceration rates broken down by race. It went unchallenged, so now it’s generally accepted that law enforcement and the legal system as a whole are racist... what choice do they have but to do away with it like an offensive statue? This isn’t the end game. The American flag will be next, the means of production, and ultimately property ownership because they all are “systematically racist.” I’m telling you... you’re already in danger just for dissent against the movement. Im afraid that at some point we’re going to have to decide to subject ourselves to the mob or take up arms.

    Defund, or abolish?

Let’s defund welfare, food stamps, section 8 housing, and free healthcare. If we can take care of ourselves without police, then we should take care of ourselves in every other aspect. Personally, I am locked and loaded and need none of those government handout programs to survive.

  14. One thing to add, people coming back into town from all over the country to see the game.

  15. Personally I do think attendance matters. A true rivalry shuts cities down and everyone is there. It’s not a question if you are going to the game, it’s assumed you are. Of course there are only so many seats. I’ve been to games that had everything that I said, shoot I have coached in volleyball games where the players couldn’t hear you five feet away even if you screamed what you wanted to tell them. I know a lot of basketball games in our area get that intense. But, for me, for it to be rivalry...this has to be the atmosphere every year. One year I’ll have to check out that game. I imagine it’s pretty intense. Two biggest cities in our area facing off.

  19. Let's be honest.... there's Mid County Madness and then everybody else. Attendance is a big part of it. When tickets can't be had and every seat is filled..... You know the crowd is 100% pumped on both sides of the field. Relative parity is important, too. The fact that the series is relatively close and the fact that you can throw the current season records out the window at kickoff because it's anybody's game.

    Vidor vs Silsbee

Your woe is me lands on deaf ears. The BC teams in 15 and 16 where actually pretty good with athletes all over the field and they had speed. Your down playing of those BC athletes is a slap in their face. In 15 Silsbee had scored a TD to start the fourth quarter to take a twenty point lead and started putting in the backups on defense. That allowed BC to have some long runs for TDs for their last scores. Silsbee's offense was so good that we matched BC TDs with our TDs to keep a twenty the point lead. In 16 BC was stacked with a huge O-line, a coaches son at QB that had been running that offense since the day he could hold a ball and a couple of RBs that was made for that offense and speed on the outside. Silsbee had one returning on offense and three or four returning on defense. Silsbee had to learn new coaches, a new offense and a new defense. One of the best teams BC has ever had beat a Silsbee team that was rebuilding and learning a new offense and defense by one point.

  22. No but I’ll take that as a compliment plus obviously none of you know Coach Haynes if you did you would know he’s old school...can’t stand phones, computers or any technology. And websites like this is one of the reasons why. But like I said, I take that as a “huge” compliment.
