Agreed... kinda wish they would use NRG and Alamodome for all Semi final games. But keep AT&T the Championship Venue.

  4. Having attended multiple Championships at AT&T as well as the one at NRG, I too acknowledge that AT&T is very accommodating to the teams as well as fans for the UIL games. I had hopes that NRG would have been a better host so the games could return occasionally. The Houston area crowds were many thousands lower than those at AT&T. If you have never attended the UIL Championships, you owe it to yourself to make the trek to Arlington and experience a first-class presentation of our beloved Texas High School Football.

You know WOS has been the most consistent program of any school I know.Out of their 42 year history they have had only a few sub par years. That record has been achieved by one head coach and his defensive coach. The first HC took his teams to four state championships winning two of those and numerous playoff births. When he retired the DC became HC and took his teams to four SC winning two of those and numerous playoff births. Some people get spoiled and think if you don't go to the SC almost every year you need change.Fact is WOS has the most winning percentage of any school in Texas. Some years your up and some your down, that's football. There are a lot of teams that were power houses.La Marque,Stephenville, celina to name a few and look at where they are now.I'm not for short runs of success I'll take the program we have now to those.Rant over.

Yeah because multiple state championships and 3 or 4 rounds isn’t good enough? Yeah better change that culture quick

The one other entity is the Houston Sports Authority, probably the worst of the 3. They don't have time for the UIL, they are too busy courting another Super Bowl. While in the Metroplex you have to deal with one egotistical man, in Houston you have to deal with 3 egotistical bureaucratic organizations!

That was also the first time NRG ever hosted it. I’m sure they learned from their mistakes and will do better next time with all the critics. Can’t just go based on something that happened one time without giving them another shot... That’s how places get better with suggestions and learned from past mistakes.

I have always been in favor of a rotation amongst the 3. I really doubt that those who have not played a state championship game in Jerry World have their memories sullied by the fact that it wasn't played there. But realism sets in and it is really a fait accompli that the championships will stay at AT&T. Factors include that Fox Sports Southwest is a Metroplex based broadcaster and DCTF who is heavily involved in the broadcast, is a Metroplex based publisher. I am sure that these have played factors in the UIL keeping the games in Arlington. But perhaps the biggest of the factors is that the Cowboys and Jerry Jones have been receptive to high school football, making both AT&T and the Star in Frisco readily available for both regular season and playoff high school games, while Houston has not. I recall a time not so very long ago that the Texans refused to host high school playoff games at NRG for.........SIGH...... the fear that these immature high schoolers would tear up their beloved brown patch field and effect that oh so quality football (yes, that is sarcasm) that they play. Just like all of us, the UIL will go where it is perceived that they are wanted and like it or not, the perception is AT&T.

Houston area schools always have to travel... give them a bone and let them get a major game in their back yard.

  12. Wait. What about all the special teams? Kickoff team, kickoff receive team, punt team, punt receive team, field goal team, extra point team? That should be 66 which makes 88 players for football.

  14. More playoff teams and more money for UIL seems like it would play a part in the reason for football divisions.
