  1. Well, since you did decide to single out that high school (who, by the way, finished just one grade below BC in the 2019 TEA Accountability Rankings), I guess you you can name the students that have transferred to that high school and played on their football team? As to the student (who by the way, was not a quarterback) when his father states that he transferred "for increased exposure to colleges," and to a high school that was only one grade higher in TEA rankings, that pretty much convinces me that the move was for athletic purposes. It not only cost the district that student, but the student's younger brother, a cornerback, who is currently at OU. The quarterback that you are alluding to transferred to Spring Westfield before the 2014 season due to his mother being hired by Spring ISD. BTW, he went on to Arizona State. None of these, as I recall, on an academic scholarship. So, as you can see, the school that you didn't mean to single out was the poached, rather than the poacher and according to the TEA isn't doing as bad academically as you wish to have folks think. Moral of the story, know what you are talking about before you open your mouth.

  2. Back on topic. So when is it ok for a school to say no this kid isnt cleared to transfer. For the past 6-7 years GCM has just let the kids walk out the door and go start for other schools not less then 20 miles away. Most if not all were for athletic purposes.

  4. The system that is in place now is truly the best way to go about it. If a kid transfers to another school district but changes their permanent residence to that of which is in the new school district, they sit 15 calendar days. I think the address change should be proven (mail, bills, etc) and possibly investigated but still best policy. If a student transfers but doesn't change permanent address they sit a calendar year. Of course there are holes but that is undoubtedly the best policy. Apartment complexes have opened the flood gates for bigger school transfers but it is what it is. You can't stop a parent from moving.

  5. Well I must add my two cents for what its worth. CR left Legacy in January because he wanted to get into the magnet program at BU. He is zoned for WB but they do not offer the Magnet program he's interested in. He also made All State at Legacy his freshman semester at WR and DB. looks like a great decision now that Legacy only have 12-14 players on their team. I can assure you he didn't transfer for athletic purposes. Parents have to do what's best for their kids and no one should question their actions unless it affects someone personally and not you kids playing time in sports. No one mentioned that he also participates in Gymnastics and student government as well. Just my opinion!!!

  7. Thanks for the info. I don't know if he is going to get 1,300 yards this year with James Wilson back there but it seems like he will be an great addition to an offense that's already looking better than last years at this point. Just another toy in AB (offensive coordinator) toy box...

Well, folks. It appears that Devon got to the bottom of the problem. The third party ad company was the problem and we have switched to another company. I just checked my phone and laptop and I was pop up free. I hope all of you find the same results. But if you don't, let me know. Devon, thank you sir!

  9. Is it right? IMHO no, but putting restrictions in place that would hurt the eligibility of an honest transfer would not be right either. In my day if you transferred you sat out of varsity play for one year no if, ands or buts. Yet that wasn't right for the kids to suffer because the move was made because a better job was found or mom and dad split and the one with custody left town. This isn't a perfect world and there will always be somebody try to cheat the system. It is up to each individual to make the right decision, it always is(the clerk gives you back too much change, do you tell her or pocket the windfall.) Honesty is the best policy. A mans word used to mean something, now a days it's hard for a mans written word to mean anything. No system will ever be perfect as long as people try to cheat it.

  10. Coker had the nerve to trash Crosby on Twitter last saying he’s happy to be around kids that are actual playmakers and then proceeded to post his stats from a scrimmage lol. The kids from Crosby were furious but were told not to say anything, well I was a parent to a kid on that team and I’m here to say Coker sucked. Baaaadddd lol

  11. No drummer, we ain't doing that. You may be accurate about CB's intentions, but we ain't making this racial, from either end of the spectrum. If that is a way you wish to go, take it to the political forum.

  12. Same as always.... somebody says something about WOS that isn't "Oh, they're so AWESOME" and those clowns lose their minds. Doesn't matter if it's true or not. It's okay to say "WOS loses kids to athletic transfers" but you can't say "WOS has athletic transfers in."

  14. So what do you suggest? Make every single kid in the state just sit out a year when they transfer?.. There are some actual legitimate transfers ya know.

  16. The transfer from Legacy was Korien Burrell and he was All-State for TAPPS 3A. Per MaxPreps 1,300+ yards last season.

  18. Chandler Rivers Wrong, Rivers is a sophomore who is a starter at cornerback. This kid I’m talking about is a good looking Senior who is #2 on the depth chart at running back...

  19. Deweyville is young and on the small side, however they are very physical and conditioning looks really good for this time of year. Buna has some size and a legit RB. Defense looked pretty salty. Bridge City had numbers with some size of their own. I was impressed with their ability to throw the ball downfield. It was about what you would expect for a first scrimmage, everybody's got some work to do and clean a few things up.

  20. Lol. Football is a team sport. It’s not about the individual. When kids believe (and it’s typically because their parents believe) that they are more important than the rest of the squad, you end up with a bunch of Tate Martells, John Franklin IIIs, etc. A kid that can’t commit to his high school football team will not commit to his college program, either.... if he even gets that shot. Same thing for the next level. A kid that can ball can do it anywhere. A kid who can’t will transfer, and transfer again and again every time they face adversity. He also won’t be able to commit to a job, a wife, his kids, or even his parents. It’s indisputable and can be proven with 100s of examples. Grayland Arnold played on some really bad Kountze teams and is now at Baylor. He’s also one of the few that didn’t break his commitment to the Bears when Briles got the axe. That’s a kid with character who will be successful at life.

  21. Oh, he did well. If I am not mistaken, he was defensive player of the year in his new district. He did go on to play for Mizzou, but as Alpha Wolf indicates usually happens, he transferred after his freshman year to juco. He did hook on with La Tech last year where he redshirted last year after 4 games and will be there for his junior year this year. I wish him well, as I did when I heard of his transfer from WO-S to the new school, as he is a heck of an athlete and a real good kid.

  22. I've mentioned this story once before, something I saw. There was this black teen about 18 years, being accompanied by this older white lady. She looked and dressed like a professional of some sort. I work in a driver license office. She told me she was.a principal at a high school in the cy fair isd area and the guy was a football player for the school. She was helping him get an ID card so that he could go to a University in the SE, I think it was Missouri. I guess the kid was a good football player. He & I got to talking and I mentioned I was from Silsbee. That caught his interest because he told me he was really from Orange and that a season or so before he played for WOS. I asked him how he got from WOS to a school out in the Cypress area. He said he moved to the Houston area to live with his dad. Maybe that was true. More than likely he was recruited and transferred to play football for some high school in the cypress area. This indicates they can pipeline a student athlete from the small schools to anywhere they want him or her to go, all the way to a university. I wasn't totally surprised by this. I kind of figured it was happening all along.

  23. When parents need to move for the good of their family, I understand. But shopping kids around like a commodity is horrible. WOS had a highly recruited transfer leave and that led to 4 straight state appearances without him. I say if they want to go let em. Better to have a team full of players that want to be there. Than have a team full of parents who are mad about them being stuck there
