That's the whole thing. Vidor needs to use that backup QB more. He has the arm. Put him in the game. You can't go into the playoffs and expect to get very far without a passing game.

Have to disagree with ya'll on this one. We put up nearly 500 yards of offense on Livingston last night...and it was a playoff game for them. We can throw the ball if we have to; Montana has a good arm and Austin Powell can really throw it too. He was the one who brought us back against ya'll. I think that in Jeff's scheme, we play ball control on offense taking time off the clock and good defense, those are the keys to our victories. We just can't turn the ball over like we did against ya'll.

Don't use Livingston as a measuring stick. Livingston's a good team, but it's an offensive team, not a defensive team. You will meet much faster, much more experienced defenses in the playoffs that will think of a one-dimensional offense as a break.

Vidor has the ability to make some noise in the playoffs, but the Pirates will have to mix it up to do it.

Ill make it real simple for you. Crosby beat PNG in a shootout. PNG is better than Vidor. Now I am not just simply using the old logic of Team A beat Team B and Team B beat Team C so therefore Team A will beat Team C. What I am saying is, PNG can compete in a shootout. It is my personal opinion that Vidor does not have the style nor weaponry to compete in a game where the other team can score really fast.

Agreed, Vidor is a ball controlled offense and is mainly ground oriented. They aren't a big play offense but if Coach Mathews can get an early lead in this game. The defense is pretty solid.

Vidor has had success in other sports as well; remember our basketball teams of the mid 2000's and the baseball teams. If you can't take the smack talk on this board, get outta the kitchen. The real problem is when you mid-County people think you own the rights to sports in this area. And, the future will tell if we're the "Lumberton" of this era. I believe our sports programs are a little better than that...

Cliff Patton coached Vidor for the football season of 1974.  Ronnie Thompson coached at Vidor for the football season of 1975.  Thompson left and went to Lamar.  Joel Soileau coached the football season of 1976.  Thompson came back and coached the football season of 1977.  Thompson left again for Port Arthur TJ.

Well Livingston beat PNG and we beat Livingston. And i know your gonna spout the bs about missing mays but you can not argue with the outcome. PNG lost to Livingston. A team that Vidor beat. That's the facts. It is not a fact that if mays was playing that Livingston would win because there is no way of proving that. There are the Facts.

But in other words Vidor does pass enough to win any game IMO. They average 65 passing yards a game. That's enough to keep the defense honest towards the pass. And Vidor can't compete in a shootout? We scored 15 points on PNG in the last 5 minutes of the game.  ::)  8)
