The Kirbyville Wildcats look to take one step closer to a Class 3A State Championship as they take on the Palacios Sharks in Game 1 of this Class 3A Region III best of 3 Quarterfinal.

Craig Jones' Wildcats, District 22-3A champions, reached this round with a 2-0 (10-0, 4-0) bi-district series win over Woodville followed by a 2-0 (10-0, 12-1) area round series win over Anderson-Shiro.

The Sharks, the District 24-3A #3 seed, reach this round with a 2-1 (4-3, 4-5, 4-3) bi-district series win over Coldspring-Oakhurst followed by a 2-1 (0-5, 4-3, 5-4) area round series win over Nacogdoches Central Heights.

The winner of this series will face the winner of the Franklin/Clifton series, which Clifton leads 1-0 with Game 2 tonight in Waco.

Clifton beats Franklin, 12-2, in Game 2 of their series to take their series 2-0 and will face Kirbyville next week.

You start out with a great bunch of quality players, and add in a Coach that knows how to win, and you have the combination to unlock State.
