You assume they “have never called a play”. I have not seen many coordinators operate without input from their position coaches. The position coaches generally have headsets and are in on every aspect of the game. I have also not seen many “key” position coaches who were not capable of “play calling” at anytime. If a position coach got promoted to coordinator it is because they are fully capable and have been heavily involved in all aspects of the game and game planning. -

To a point YES. You have 3 coaches that have never called a play at the varsity level. Big difference in calling plays and making sure the punt team get on the field. It is all good until it is not
